Health Care

If your child is unwell or injured they need to tell their teacher if in class and head to sickbay which is located in the front office. Our qualified first aid staff will take the necessary steps to care for your son or daughter and make contact with Parents if your child needs to go home or to hospital.

In sickbay we do not stock medications other than student specific medication that are provided by the families of students and accompanied by the appropriate health care plan and parent permission form.

Lesson Times

Lockers & EquipmentAll students have their own locker in which they keep their bag, books and other belongings. A lock will need to be purchased by you to keep the locker secure. Students are expected to keep their locker neat and tidy. The locker areas are equipped with closed circuit video surveillance.

Items listed are required by a number of subject areas, with many of them already available in your homes.

Mobile Phones

At Xavier we believe in providing students with opportunities to learn how to balance mobile phone usage appropriately to prepare them for life beyond school. Mobile phones may be used at recess and lunch times and in the classroom at the direction of the teacher. They should be turned off at all other times (this includes during study lessons). Inappropriate use of a mobile phone will result in its confiscation.

Modes of TransportBikes - Bike racks are provided near the Fallon St Gate. Bikes & helmets should be locked for the duration of the school day.

Buses - Please go to the NSW Department of Transport to apply for a bus pass for your child. Bus passes are handed out in homeroom once received from the bus company. School students and opal flyer

The pick-up and drop-off of students is recommended on Fallon Street (paying attention to the parking signs as parking authorities conduct random checks from time to time). It is not recommended to use Currawong Street or Curlew Crescent. Buses currently use these two streets and as such the congestion in the streets has the potential to cause a significant accident along with restricting access for residents to their own properties.

Please ensure you do not park over any of the car park driveways as this blocks staff & visitors to the school from coming or going.

Please do not double park as this poses a safety risk.

Resource Centre

Library Resource Centre - Open 8am - 4pm daily and students are welcome to use the this space during recess & lunch.Books can be borrowed from this centre along with the student printing service.

Student textbooks are assigned through the Resource Centre.

IT Support is also located in this space. If students require assistance with their chromebooks or require a loan computer, support is available between 8am - 4pm.

Students will receive their chromebook on their first day. Please ensure that the device is charged each night ready for the school day.

CanteenOur School Canteen is Open Monday to Friday for all Students.

Lunch orders need to be submitted by 11am daily.

Student TechnologyAt Xavier, each student is issued their own device, a Chromebook, to assist with their Learning. The cost of the device is included in the school fees and is updated every two years, ensuring we keep the latest technology in the hands of our students.

Students are supplied with a device, carry case and a charging cord.

It is imperative that students use their Chromebooks in an acceptable and ethical manner and as a learning tool. Programs that allow students to access the internet, online chat and email, should be used in a responsible manner. Breaches of the user agreement will result in disciplinary measures.

Uniform Requirements

● The wearing of the Full Uniform for exams and formal occasions is required

● The sports uniform is only to be worn when a PE or PASS prac class is timetabled

● Uniform must be in appropriate condition. In cases where this is not deemed to be the

case, students will be asked to replace items

● Selected items must have the Xavier High School Crest or XHS Embroidery: shirts and

over blouses, tracksuit jacket and pants, polo shirt, sport shorts, girls’ navy tailored

pants and shorts, hat & scarf

● Boys are to be clean shaven when attending school

● Shoes must be 100% leather to be WHS compliant (Non-leather shoes do not meet

WHS requirements and must not be worn)

Accessories and Hair

At Xavier High School students are permitted to wear one pair of stud or sleeper

earrings in the lobe of each ear. They may wear one plain ring and are permitted to

wear a necklace that has a crucifix or religious symbol. Please note that, for practical

subjects, accessories will need to be removed. All students are required to wear their

hair in a natural colour. Any other colours or extreme hairstyles (as identified by the

school) are not permitted. All students are required to wear their hair in a neat and tidy

fashion. It is a requirement and expectation that all male students are to be

clean-shaven.

Acceptable Accessories

● Earrings: one pair of small, plain, gold or silver sleepers or studs to be worn in the lobe of each ear.

● Bracelets: one simple bracelet only (medical)

● Neck chain: single plain chain

● Watch

● Ring: 1 plain band

● Nose Piercings: If students have nose piercings, they are to either remove the piercing or wear only a

clear nose stud (available for purchase from student reception)

● Hair must be of a natural colour

● Hair accessories (eg. ribbons) are to be bottle green or navy blue

● Shoes: Students must wear fully enclosed lace-up leather shoes or non-fabric running shoes during

practical lessons and Food Technology, Technics and Science Rooms

● Long hair is to be tied back at all times in practical classes

It is expected that students wear correct uniform and maintain a high standard of personal grooming

and neatness.
