NCSI BACKGROUND CHECK INSTRUCTION GUIDE Our focus is to improve the safety of the playing environment for all youth soccer players in Ohio South. As of Summer 2019, Ohio South will move background check providers to NCSI – the same organization who provides a high standard of background checks to all United States Olympic sport governing bodies (U.S. Soccer, U.S. Baseball, U.S. Volleyball, etc.). By making this switch, Ohio South will sharpen the screening process for coaches, admins, board members, etc.; and thereby strive to create a safer playing environment for children. NCSI uses the platform SportsEngine to capture the requisite information to run the check. Background checks are now required for the following adults; Coaches and Soccer Trainers Board Members of Leagues and Clubs Club Administrators, Team Administrators and Team Managers Tournament Organizers Athletic Trainers Organizational Employees who may have the opportunity to have direct and unmonitored access to minors These adults will all register in Stack as a ‘coach’, even if they are not one. By doing this, it triggers the appropriate SafeSport and background check access needed. Only the aforementioned identified adults who are NEW to the system (meaning they did not register & submit as a ‘coach’ during the 2018-19 Competitive Season or Fall 18-Spring 19 Rec/TOPSoccer seasons) need to do this. A. After a coach/admin/board member, etc has begun registration as a ‘coach’ in Stack, they will reach a waiver that contains the link to submit their background check. Click the link in the waiver.

NCSI BACKGROUND CHECK INSTRUCTION GUIDE Our focus is to improve the safety of the playing environment for all youth soccer players in Ohio South. As of Summer 2019, Ohio South will move background check providers to NCSI – the same organization who provides a high standard of background checks to all United States Olympic sport governing bodies (U.S. Soccer, U.S. Baseball, U.S. Volleyball, etc.). By making this switch, Ohio South will sharpen the screening process for coaches, admins, board members, etc.; and thereby strive to create a safer playing environment for children. NCSI uses the platform SportsEngine to capture the requisite information to run the check. Background checks are now required for the following adults;

• Coaches and Soccer Trainers • Board Members of Leagues and Clubs • Club Administrators, Team Administrators and Team Managers • Tournament Organizers • Athletic Trainers • Organizational Employees who may have the opportunity to have direct and unmonitored

access to minors

These adults will all register in Stack as a ‘coach’, even if they are not one.
