QI’m in charge of the hen weekend. I know the bride

wants me to keep it a surprise but how do I make sure she has a great time? Question answered by Sarah at Luxury Stag & Hen.

ABrides often tell us that they are tired of the usual hen night

format and want to do something special that people will WANT to remember. If some of your friends are already married you will no doubt have been to your fair share of standard hen nights where L plates and vodka shots are in plentiful supply. These can be great fun but the trouble is once you’ve been to a few they all blur into one.

Our advice for the perfect hen celebration is always the same, focus on who the brides want to be there. Doing something different doesn’t always mean big budgets. There is no point jetting off for a week in the sun if her best friend’s budget simply won’t stretch. At Luxury Stag and Hen we offer a bespoke service based on two simple questions….who is coming and what is the budget? Focus on this and you are guaranteed success!

QWhat is a celebrant?

Question answered by Paula Wratten, Celebrant.

AA celebrant is licensed or trained to conduct a bespoke wedding

ceremony, this is not legally binding as it requires an authorised person like a registrar to do the legal papers. The couple may wish to marry in jeans and t-shirt first and after the legal part opt for something special with friends and family. Rings can be exchanged in a celebrant ceremony and family and friends need not know that the couple married in a registry office.

A celebrant will create a personalised ceremony for you and incorporate your own beliefs and ideas into the service! This can be done anywhere from a hot air balloon, castle, hotel or location of your dreams. The elements of the wedding can be religious, non-religious, civil or cultural. A celebrant can also perform nature ceremonies like a handfasting or a traditional pagan wedding.

QWhat does a full day’s coverage mean?

Question answered by Sarah Critchlow.

ANearly all my clients book my full day’s coverage. This means that

I will have discussed all the timings of the day with the bride and groom so that I can take photographs of the boys getting ready, usually really fun and informal and then I move on to the girls for their getting ready shots which is usually about 2 hours. On then to the ceremony - whether it is church or venue, I work discreetly to capture those precious moments, the vows, the rings and not forgetting the first kiss. Then it is onto the drinks reception taking about 8-10 group shots that the couple have requested, swiftly and efficiently, and then spending about 20 minutes with just the bride and groom for some beautiful, contemporary romantic images. After this the rest of the day is completely as it happens, cake cut, speeches, informal shots of the guests, any other additions such as magician, casino and then first dance and fireworks.

Wedding awards voted for by newlyweds have been hailed a major success again with companies from across Yorkshire and the North East being recognised for their excellent customer service.

A fabulous gala dinner was held at York Racecourse recently, where awards were given to businesses involved in the regions wedding industry. Coronation Street has seen over 102 eventful weddings in its 53 years, but Monday 8th September, saw the first legal marriage as the newlyweds said their I do’s inside the Rovers Return at Coronation Street The Tour.

Paul Johnston and Andy Daniel from Islington, London became the first couple to marry at the former Coronation Street set after the attraction was granted a wedding licence in June. The ceremony was held inside the Rovers Return with the happy couple exchanging vows behind the bar whilst 32 guests shared the experience.

Paul Johnston, 33, a TV Journalist said:“I’m on such a high, everything about the ceremony and venue is so special. You could tell that all the guests had a good time which means such a lot to us.”

Andy Daniel, 37, an Events Director said: “I’m really happy that we have been able to give our families and friends such a truly memorable experience. We’ve also made soap history by having a wedding without a punch up!”

Following the ceremony the wedding party shared a champagne toast inside the Rovers Return before taking advantage of the truly unique venue to get some memorable wedding photos. Paul and Andy then stepped through the doors of Nick’s Bistro to take their first steps as a married couple onto the cobbles of the nation’s Street.

“I’ve written about soap weddings for years so I thought it would be fun to have one of my own, only slightly less eventful and without any births, deaths or long lost children showing up during the ceremony.”

Paul and Andy contacted Coronation Street The Tour operator’s Continuum Leading Attractions as soon as the tour was announced to enquire about getting married there. Following more requests a wedding licence was obtained and it seemed only fitting that they be the first to marry there. During the day, the Manchester visitor attraction is open to the public for tours, but at night it is transformed into a truly unique venue for weddings and events.

Upon our arrival, it was evident that we’d arrived in the finest 5 Star hotel in the Scottish Capital. Being greeted by a kilted doorman was just the start. We arrived at our room which was the perfect combination of tradition and modernity. Designed by Olga Polizzi, the room boasts rich and romantic

colours, reflecting Scotland’s heather, mists and moors. From our bedroom window we revelled in the view of Edinburgh Castle standing resplendent against a moon-lit sky. In addition to the 168 bedrooms, there are 20 Edinburgh Suites, each offer designs that respect the history of the building and the beauty of the Scottish countryside.

My love affair with Edinburgh and this splendid hotel had begun. At breakfast the next morning we were treated to a hearty Scottish breakfast – haggis-and-all!

Wherever you are in this magnificent City, the skirl of Bagpipes is never far away and after a day of heavy sight-seeing we were in need of respite. Where better to do this than at one of Scotland’s

best urban day spa retreats. The award-winning Balmoral Spa is the perfect place to escape the pace of Edinburgh’s visitor attractions and indulge in a treatment of your choice. If you still have some energy after all that sight-seeing then you could work out in the gym. However, we chose to relax in the steam room and sauna and take advantage of the 15-metre swimming pool. With a ‘help-yourself’ refreshments bar and a pool area reminiscent of a stylish roman bath, it was incredibly easy to relax …but extremely difficult to leave! Edinburgh is amongst my top 5 City-break destinations. There’s so much to see and do, that a weekend simply isn’t long enough to enjoy all that Edinburgh has to offer. However, by far, my favourite visitor attraction is The Royal Yacht Britannia and 2014 marks the 16th Anniversary of The Royal Yacht’s life as a 5-star visitor attraction.It’s not just myself and my family who enjoyed this attraction. Receiving Tripadvisor’s certificate for Excellence for two years running (2012 and 2013) is testament to the enjoyment this attraction brings to thousands of visitors from all over the world each year.

This award-winning five star attraction and exclusive hospitality venue is now permanently berthed in Leith, Edinburgh, just 2 miles from the city centre, alongside the Ocean Terminal. Britannia’s Visitor Centre provides historical background, photographs of the Royal Family and Yachtsmen and houses the original Wheelhouse.

Visitors are invited to collet an audio handset and embark upon an audio-tour, to discover Britannia’s five decks. The 12 cottages have been meticulously planned and conceptualized by Inderpal Singh Kochhar, with assistance from the vanguards of sustainable design - architects, Vasant & Revathi Kamat and Designer duo Sahil & Sarthak. While the Zanana and mardana sections are perfect areas to lounge with a great view of the property. True to its ethos, the cuisine served at Lakshman Sagar is the traditional cuisine of the vicinity and includes special traditional hunting recipes of the Raipur Family. The food prepared at Lakshman Sagar is from the freshest seasonal ingredients from the nearby farms which the guests can pick from the farms and catch fish from the lake for the next meal.

The bedroom and living areas flow into one another. A similar flow continues towards the bathrooms, where an open door echoes with the ethos of non-divided spaces of rural homes. Each room opens into a private splash pool overlooking the lake, creating a visual bliss with a panaromic view of the landscape.

In the bathroom grey slate walls have been polished with lacquer used by local wood-smiths to shine furniture, while bathroom sinks and private plunge pools in each room have been carved out of rough granite rescued from local mining sites.

With a customized private dining system, the guests can enjoy campfire meals and live cooking. From breakfast in the fields to lunch beside the lake or a romantic dinner on a float, the options for dining in the picturesque property are many.

Situated amidst the parched rugged landscape of the Marwar region, also known as the” badlands of India”, Lakshman Sagar offers a variety of adventurous activities for the adrenaline junkie. A trek to the ruins of the old Fatehgarh fort, offering an enchanting view of the badlands is a must to watch the sunset.
