Fifth-ranked Denver overcame a 2-0 hole on the road to top Miami, 3-2, while No. 11 Minnesota Duluth over- came a 3-1 deficit at home to down second-ranked North Dakota, 7-4. The biggest comeback of the night came on the road in Colorado Springs, where Omaha erased a 3-0 deficit to topple host Colorado College, 6-4. In UMD’s win over North Dakota, senior goaltender Hunter Shepard made his 104th consecutive start in net, tying the NCAA record held by Cornell’s Ben Scrivens (2007-10). Assuming Shepard starts tonight, he will break the NCAA record for consecutive starts by a goaltender. Shepard has 107 starts overall in his career, which ties former Colorado College goalie Alex Leclerc for fourth in NCHC history. Current Miami se- nior goaltender Ryan Larkin ranks third with 113 career starts, two back of former Omaha netminder Evan Weninger, who had 115. Former Denver goalie Tanner Jaillet holds the NCHC record with 127 career starts. UMD junior forward Kobe Roth tallied a career-high three points in the win over North Dakota, including two goals. It was his third career multi-goal game, but first this season. Roth’s last multi-goal game also came in a win over North Dakota at home on Nov. 30, 2018. He already has a career-best 11 goals this season, nearly matching the 12 career goals with which he entered the campaign. Denver pushed its unbeaten streak to an NCAA-best 10 games (7- 0-3) with the comeback win at Miami. Junior forward Kohen Olischefski scored DU’s first two goals, both on the power play, to tie his career high. It was his third career multi-goal game and second this season (Nov. 1 vs. Niagara), but first ever in conference play with his other coming as a freshman against Dartmouth. Western Michigan was the lone NCHC team not to need a comeback Friday, rolling past St. Cloud State, 6-2. It was WMU’s third straight win, tying a season long, with the Broncos potting at least five goals in each win. WMU is also now unbeaten in four straight (3-0-1). Senior forward and captain Hugh McGing topped 100 points for his career in the win with a goal and an assist, becoming the 60th Bronco in program history to do so. He’s the second active NCHC player to achieve the feat, joining Miami senior forward Gordie Green (106 points). McGing now has 101 career points (38g, 63a) in 134 career games. Omaha pushed its unbeaten streak to a season-long-tying three games (1-0-2) with the comeback win at CC. It was also UNO’s 10th win this season, surpassing last season’s total of nine. All four of the Maver- icks’ wins in the NCHC this year have come on the road. Friday Summary/inter-ConFerenCe reCordS

Comebacks were the theme of the night Friday, as three of four NCHC winners overcame at least a two-goal deficit and

one even erased a three-goal hole, including two teams on the road. Home teams went 2-2 on Friday night.

In the biggest match-up of the night, No. 11/11 Minnesota Duluth scored six of the game’s final seven goals after trailing 3-1, to knock off second-ranked North Dakota, 7-4, in front of a packed crowd at AMSOIL Arena. With the win, UMD (13-8-2, 8-3-2-0) moved within five points of the first-place Fight-ing Hawks (18-3-3, 9-2-2-2). UND jumped out to a 3-1 lead early in the second period with two points each from junior defenseman Matt Kiersted and senior forward Westin Michaud, but the Bulldogs answered with three goals in the second half of the second stanza to take a 4-3 lead into the final frame. Sophomore forward Tanner Laderoute tallied the game-win-ner midway through the third period, while UMD made it 6-3 before UND snapped a run of five straight Bulldog goals with a power play tally. Junior forward Kobe Roth finished the scor-ing for UMD, totaling two goals and three points on the night. Minnesota Duluth outshot the Fighting Hawks, 38-34, while 13 different Bulldogs recorded a point.

Also moving closer to first place was No. 5/5 Denver, which overcame a 2-0 deficit to edge Miami, 3-2, at Steve Cady Arena in Oxford. The RedHawks (6-13-4, 3-8-2-1) jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead for the third straight game, but DU (16-4-5, 6-3-4-3) slowly chipped away with a goal each period to push its unbeaten streak to an NCAA-best 10 games. Junior forward Kohen Olischefski scored the Pioneers first two goals, both on the power play, while junior defenseman Griffin Mendel tallied the game-winner early in the third period. DU outshot Miami, 33-23, in the win.

A three-goal comeback took place at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs, where Omaha erased a 3-0 hole to down Colorado College, 6-4. The Mavericks (10-10-5, 4-6-3-0) trailed 3-0 only 8:33 into the game, before starting to turn it around with a short-handed goal from freshman forward Joey Abate. UNO still trailed the Tigers (8-12-1, 3-9-1-0), 4-3, after 40 minutes, but a three-goal third period propelled Omaha to the win. Sophomore forward Tyler Weiss tallied the game-winner to break a 4-4 tie with only 57 seconds remain-

ing in regulation on a wrap-around, while an empty-netter sealed it for UNO. Six different Mavs scored a goal, including two on the power play, while Abate and Weiss each finished with a goal and an assist. CC outshot Omaha, 38-34, in the loss, but went only 1-for-7 on the power play.

Western Michigan continued to see its offense roll, potting at least five goals for the third straight game in a 6-2 victory over St. Cloud State at Lawson Ice Arena. With the win, WMU (10-9-4, 6-5-2-2) won its third straight game and opened up a seven-point gap over SCSU (8-11-4, 5-8-0-0) in the race for the fourth home-ice playoff spot. The Broncos jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period, before the Huskies got on the board late in the opening frame. Senior forward Wade Allison scored on the power play early in the second stanza for WMU to thwart any hopes of a comeback as SCSU would get no closer than 4-2 midway through the third period. Senior for-ward Hugh McGing added a goal and an assist for the Broncos as he topped 100 points for his career, now at 101 points at WMU.

All four series conclude Saturday, with all four games available on NCHC.tv.
