SUNDAY · APRIL 26TH Farewell Berlin!

Dear Friends,

Travel to Germany with Temple Beth El and experience a one-of-a-kind trip. Rabbi Jessica Mates will lead us on a tour of Munich, Nuremberg and Berlin that incorporates her knowledge of Holocaust history and passion for travel. With the backdrop of the legacy of the Nuremberg Trials of the Nazis and that trial’s role in reminding us of the importance of the rule of law in seek- ing justice, this escorted trip will include guest speakers, tourist sites and a special program with an eyewitness account of Kristallnacht through the eyes of Jewish and non-Jewish residents of a small town. We will also enjoy the nightlife of these fascinating cities and see what the Germany of today is like. This trip is open to both Temple Beth El members AND nonmembers. For attorneys participating in the trip, CLE credits will be applied for.

We can’t wait for you to join us.

Amenities: BreakfastRoom Selection Category: Classic Rooms

Located in Munich, and built on the site of a for-mer university library, stands The Charles Hotel. The hotel is set on the edge of the famous mu-seum quarter, so it is very close to some historic attractions. Some of the nearby attractions include Konigsplatz Square, Maxvorstadt artists’ district, Schwabing quarter, Nymphenburg Palace, Leop-oldstrasse University, Lenbachhaus, Allianz Arena and the Viktualienmarket. The hotel also offers many services and features which include a bar, a restaurant, a terrace, a spa with a sauna, a fit-ness center and an indoor swimming pool. The restaurant in the hotel, Davvero, offers an inspired range of original Italian dishes served either in the restaurant or on the outdoor terrace with views of the Lenbachhaus and Old Botanical Garden. The Charles Hotel offers 136 guest room and 24 suites, in nine different room categories. All of the rooms and suites offer its own individual character and charm with contemporary decoration and Bavarian detailing, and many of the rooms offer views of the city or of the Old Botanical Garden. After some time for check-in, begin your first tour of Munich. The city was closely connected to the rise of National Socialism in Germany. The Nazi Party was founded here and had its headquarters in the city until it was destroyed in 1945. Now Mu-nich has been able to recapture the cultural and architectural grace of the pre-war era and is now far more important than before. Similarly, its Jew-ish community is much more prominent within the totality of German Jewry than it was prior to 1933. In the evening, enjoy a wonderful welcome din-ner with traditional music at a local restaurant.

MONDAY · APRIL 20TH Accompanied by your guide begin your full day tour of Munich, the capital of Bavaria. Explore the highlights of the Old Town, as well as the city’s most important Jewish sites. Visit Marienplatz, see the neo-Gothic city hall and its famed Glock-enspiel. Visit exhibits about the history of Jews in Munich at the Jewish Museum. Continue to the Ohel Jakob Synagogue and the Jewish Commu-nity Center. Also see the White Rose Monument, dedicated to a local student movement during World War II. Dinner tonight is on your own.

TUESDAY · APRIL 21ST After breakfast, begin your journey to Nuremberg with a stop in Dachau. After a short drive to the pleasant and beautiful city of Dachau, you will ar-

rive at the former Nazi concentration camp, a mu-seum and memorial to the notorious Nazi camp. Take a guided tour of the compound, a place of memorial and education dedicated to the thou-sands who were imprisoned and lost their lives there between 1933 and 1945. Learn how Dachau provided a model for all Nazi camps, and see the exhibitions and memorials, together with the re-constructed barracks and cells. Then you continue to Nuremberg, the second biggest city in Bavaria. In the afternoon you will visit the Documentation Center Nazi Party Rally Grounds, where the big propaganda events took place between 1933 and 1938.

Amenities: BreakfastRoom Selection Category: Superior Rooms

*316 elegantly furnished rooms, including 7 suites, ranging from 42 to 80 sqm * Restaurant Nürnberg-er Stuben with regional dishes and international specialities * Bar Nürnberger Treff - the Trendbar in the city * Event hosting capacities for up to 850 persons in the largest hall and a further 7 halls

WEDNESDAY · APRIL 22ND Today will be centered around Nuremberg’s WWII history. In the morning you will visit the Memorium Nuremberg Trials, the courthouse in which Nazi war criminals were tried in the famous Courtroom 600. The trials marked the beginning of the inter-national criminal law. Then in the afternoon, your bus will take you to Wurzburg/Frankenwinheim for your special pro-gram with the locals AND ONE OF OUR PARTIC-IPANTS WHO SURVIVED KRISTALLNACHT. A spe-cial dinner which will take place in Wurzburg before returning back to Nuremberg in the late evening

THURSDAY · APRIL 23RD NUREMBERG TO BERLIN: TRANSFER After breakfast, depart by bus towards Berlin. A box lunch will be included for you during this transfer. Upon arrival, check in to your new hotel for the next three nights.

Amenities: BreakfastWelcome to the Hotel Adlon Kempinski, located in the heart of the vibrant city of Berlin. We are proud to offer you an extensive range of five-star services to ensure your visit to Berlin is a trip to remember, from incredible city tours to luxury limousine and concierge services – we will go the extra mile to

meet every one of your expectations. After checking in, take an afternoon tour of the vibrant capital of Germany, one of Europe’s most important cultural centers. This tour is an intro-duction to Germany’s most multifaceted city that was once the residence of the Hohenzollern, the capital of the German Empire and of the German Democratic Republic (DDR), the Weimar Republic and the capital of the Third Reich. Following the end of the dictatorship of terror, the old Nazi center of power was occupied by the Allied Forces and divided into four zones. No-where in the world are the consequences of the politics of the Cold War as clearly visible as in Ber-lin. From 1961 to 1989, the East and West were divided by a wall. After the fall of the wall and the reunification of Germany, Berlin became the capi-tal again. The political events profoundly changed the city. During your guided tour you will see he past and present, as well as visit famous monuments. Next to the castles and palaces of the Hohern-zollern dynasty, you will find monuments of mod-ern architecture and more than 150 museums.

FRIDAY · APRIL 24TH After breakfast, depart on a full day tour (up to 8 hours) of Berlin to see highlights such as the Bran-denburg Gate and Reichstag, Germany’s Parlia-ment with its glass dome, as well as important Jew-ish sites such as the Jewish Museum, the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, the Neue Syna-gogue and the surrounding Scheunenviertel (Barn Quarter), the former hub of Jewish life in the city. When the Nazis came to power in Berlin in 1933, the city had 160,000 Jewish inhabitants, represent-ing 4% of the population. They founded publishing companies, business centers and banks and were an important part of cultural life in Berlin. Also visit the “Topography of Terror”. Once the headquar-ters of the Nazi’s secret state police “Gestapo”, you can now find a museum and exhibition that tries to bring light to all the evil that took place there during Hitler’s reign.

Tonight we enjoy a traditional Shabbat Dinner.

SATURDAY · APRIL 25TH As this city is packed with history and has plenty to see, you will go on another day tour in Berlin, this time exploring more of the part that had been east of the wall. Visit Gendarmenmarkt, said to be the most beautiful square in Berlin with its French and German Cathedrals, Checkpoint Charlie, once one of the world’s most famous crossings and the East Side Gallery, where the dreaded wall has been turned into a piece of art. To round things up, you will visit Alexanderplatz. From the iconic TV Tower, there you will have a spectacular view of the entire city. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner up in the TV Tower or at a local restaurant.

SUNDAY · APRIL 26TH Bid farewell to Germany today! As all travelers will be departing on separate flights, you will in-dependently make your own way to the airport in time for your departing flight.
