Mech-Tool Engineering Ltd [MTE] is a technology-led company with a global name for the protection of people and equipment from fire, blast and radiant heat hazards in onshore and offshore oil & gas, renewable energy and petrochemical industries. MTE devote a unique wealth of specialist skills and over 45 years experience to design, build and deliver individual and dependable solutions.

Four decades ago MTE were amongst the first to respond to the needs of operators of offshore platforms for simple to install, economical to produce, self-contained modules providing protection against fire, blast and noise.

Today MTE Modular Solutions team is one of the most experienced in the world. The company’s track record in offshore oil & gas has attracted assignments in wind power, nuclear and land based petrochemical plants.

MTE offers the complete turnkey service: design using the latest modelling techniques, engineering, assembly, architectural fit-out, pre-delivery testing, transportation and installation.

Modules are purpose designed to meet the clients’ specified explosion, seismic, thermal, fire and acoustic performance criteria, and can be constructed from carbon steel, duplex or 316L stainless steel.

Modules are supplied complete with mains power distribution, internal and external lighting, DC emergency power, security, fire and gas detection, alarm systems, CCTV, heating, ventilation and air conditioning and packaged equipment systems – installed, tested and commissioned.

Bespoke fire, blast and acoustically rated modules designed, manufactured and supplied complete with all electrical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.

Modular Solutions

MTE flexible approach enables the company to supply modular buildings to cover a range of duties and sizes from small road transportable units to large site-assembled buildings manufactured in modular units.

Accommodation Modules The variety of uses is continually expanding. These include: living quarters (new build), additional living quarters (upgrade), temporary refuge rooms, emergency shelters and office accommodation.

Equipment Rooms Typical uses include: E-Houses (Electrical Houses), RIE (Remote Instrument Enclosures) control rooms, LER (Local Equipment Room), 33KV room, 11KV room, compression room, laboratory modules, VSD (variable speed drive) modules and pump houses. MTE’s electrical expertise enables the company to produce modules housing equipment such as switchgear and control systems.

Fabrication At the 7200m2 production facility at the Darlington base MTE employ state of the art equipment to handle the widest variety of work possible.

The 11000m2, 35m high covered riverside facility with three 20 tonne overhead cranes located by the River Tees, in nearby Middlesbrough, has the flexibility to assemble and ship out modules exceeding 1000 tonnes.

Delivery and Installation Modules can be supplied in one piece and loaded directly on to barges for onward sea transportation to their final destination. Units which are larger still can be supplied in kit form for simple on-site assembly. MTE then take care of site installation and supervision.
