Mr. Choon B. Lee
Mr. Choon B. Lee is a Korean-American who, for
four decades, has been a valuable helper for newly
arrived Koreans. Mr. Lee graduated from the
Hankook University of Foreign Studies, majoring in
Political Science. He lived in Elmhurst, Queens and
started his company called Young Spring, Inc. He
was a real estate, and insurance broker. He was
a reporter for The Korea Herald, a daily newspaper covering news on finance
and economy which was published in Seoul, Korea in English.
He was, and still is, a very active leader in Korean community and promoting the
culture and performing arts. He served as a treasurer for the Korean Church
Association of Greater New York and organizing Korean Christian School in the
early 1980s. He was a founding member of Korean Church of Forest Hills and
was ordained as an elder. He served on the Committee on Ministry and the
Committee for Preparation for Ministry in NYC Presbytery. When he moved to
Long Island, he joined the LI Presbytery. He was involved in many committees
of New York City Presbytery of PCUSA (Presbyterian Church of USA) and also
served in committees of the Presbytery of Long Island in early 1990s.
He served in the Synod of the Northeast of PCUSA representing Korean churches
throughout the Northeast area. He was recognized with the Service and
Dedication to the Community Award from the New York State Senator Toby Ann
Stavisky and from NYC Council member Peter A. Koo.
He is a founder of Korean Culture and Heritage Society of New York since 1983
which promotes the Korean culture and heritage in New York area.
Dr. Emilio Quines, Jr.,
Emilio Quines, Jr., MD, was born in Baguio City, but raised in the town of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He finished his Doctorate of Medicine at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center In June 1966. Migrated to the USA in 1967 where he completed his trainings in rotating internship, medical residency and fellowships at various institutions, including Brooklyn VA Medical Center and Bellevue NYU
Medical Center among others. Did private medical practice in Internal and Family Medicine initially,
then decided to have a better family life with stable time schedule with salaried position. He served as attending physician at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, NY and as Associate Clinical Assistant Professor at NY College of Osteopathic Medicine. Had serve as Medical Director at MLK Jr., Health Center in Wyandanch, NY. He is now retired after more than 40 years in the practice of medicine. He is active as founder and advisor to the UERM Medical Foundation, Inc., and KCR Knight of Rizal Long Island Chapter. He is involved with his spouse Dr. Felicisima David-Quines doing humanitarian services by supporting medical missions in the Philippines. Support health fairs. Support different Foundations, religious and USA Veterans programs. Held several leadership positions. Has been given awards, honors and certificates. He is a past and present member of different organizations: AMA, APPNY, AIAIA, American College of Executive Physicians, American Academy of Family Physicians, NY Academy of Sciences, Phil Medical Association, among others. They are blessed with 3 children and grandchildren. Syed H. Rahman, P.E.
Syed H. Rahman, P.E., is the Regional Materials Management Engineer of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) at their Stony Brook Region 1 Headquarters.
Syed has over thirty-three years of progressively responsible professional experience in environmental permitting, engineering design and construction supervision in the field of waste management, air
quality and infrastructure improvements. Syed has been with the DEC for the past twenty two years. In his current position, Syed manages the Department’s regional solid waste program, overseeing the permitting and compliance activities of all solid waste management facilities located in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, Long Island. Recently, Syed’s testimony at the First District Court of Suffolk County assisted the District Attorney to successfully secure a guilty plea against a high profile illegal dumping trial. Prior to joining NYSDEC, Syed served as a Project Engineer at various consulting engineering firms in New York State and Massachusetts. Syed received his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and Master’s degrees in Geotechnical Engineering from University of Massachusetts at Lowell. Syed is a licensed professional engineer in the State of New York and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Syed has been serving the Muslim community at Islamic Association of Long Island (IALI), also known as Selden Mosque, for last 18 years in various different voluntary roles to help run daily affairs of that Center. He has been involved with Saturday school of IALI as a voluntary administration team member since its inception; over the years the school has grown from 50 students to now almost 250. Currently, Syed is serving as the President-Elect of IALI. Over the years, Syed also has actively participated at various other programs such as interfaith gatherings and the Muslim American Advisory Board of Suffolk County Executive’s Office.
John C Tsunis, Esq.
John C. Tsunis, Esq., Chairman and CEO of Gold Coast
Bank. Mr. Tsunis, a founder of Gold Coast Bank,
received his law degree from Syracuse University
College of Law in 1975 and graduated from New York
University with honors in Banking and Finance. He has
been an attorney since 1977, specializing in banking law,
real estate, land use and commercial transactions. Mr.
Tsunis was formerly Vice Chairman and General
Counsel to Long Island Commercial Bank and a member of its board of directors and
executive and loan committees. Mr. Tsunis founded the law firm of Tsunis Gasparis
Lustig Ring & Kenney, LLP, served as Managing Partner through October of 2014 and
remains Special Counsel. Additionally, he is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
of Long Island Hotels LLC. Among many philanthropic endeavors, Mr. Tsunis is the
past Chairman of the Stony Brook Long Island Children’s Hospital Task Force, a
Member of the Board of Governors of Touro Law School, Chairman of the Board of
Directors of New York State Hospitality and Tourism Association and President of the
Tsunis Foundation Inc. Mr. Tsunis served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the
Long Island Museum in Stony Brook and as past President of the Three Village Chamber
of Commerce. He was recently honored by the Village Times Herald in 2011 as Man of
the Year.
Over the past few years, Mr. Tsunis has been supporting the missions of the Suffolk
County Executive’s Asian American Advisory Board by hosting its annual lunar New
Year Celebrations at his Holiday Inn Express, Stony Brook. He also supports Asian
American Advisory Board’s Youth Orchestra and the annual Asian American and
Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration. Mr. Tsunis is committed to continue his
support of the functions of the Asian American Advisory Board.

The Commack Korean School was founded in the heart of Suffolk County with
Principal Keun Mo Chung (former Secretary of Scientific Technology) at its
focus, and it has been serving and working diligently over 30 years to educate
our 1.5 and 2nd generation Korean-Americans so that they may live with a
strong understanding of their unique identities.
