TLA Lecturer Conference The small crowd was cheerful, relax and unusually chatty. That was not quite expected on early Saturday morning where most would prefer a late breakfast in the comfort of home. As in the words of Mr Thomas Sim – Chairman of SLA Training & Development Committee and TLA Director, he likened the annual gathering of resource personnel as TLA’s very own Teachers’ Day. The aim is to create a platform for lecturers and TAC Members to network and keep one another updated on the latest teaching methodologies and requirements in the adult learning arena.

The main theme for the half-day event was “Assessment” where the topic cannot not be over-emphasised in determining the outgoing quality of an institution’s graduates. TLA’s lecturer Mr Max Ee enthralled fellow lecturers with his sharing on Effective Teaching Strategies. Mr Ee is also currently the Convener of TLA Continuous Learning Programme, and as an adjunct lecturer at SIM University, he won the 2014 Teaching Merit Award.

It was the sharing from Mr Teo Kee Boon - Member of SLA Training & Development Committee and TLA Examination Board Member on Revisiting Examination Paper Setting that at times, gotten everyone in stitches. However there was serious undertone as he rightly concluded.

The session was not over till Mr Bill Chua – TLA Examination Board Chairman and Advanced Diploma in Supply Chain Management Course Convener walked through with his topic on Competency-base Assessments and illustrated with a flow chart for administering TLA training course examination.

Mr Yong Keng Wee – Manager, Training & Development and head the TLA training team was presented the 5 long year service award. Mr Yong joined SLA in January 2010 and joined the the administration to incorporate TLA and the day-to-day operation of the academy.
