Mobile World Congress Day 2: A Preview of Samsung’s Nexshop Retail Solution; More on Conversational Commerce and Ethereum 1) During Day 2 of the 2017 Mobile World Congress, the Fung Global Retail & Technology team attended sessions on conversational commerce, big data and the development of enterprise applications on the general purpose blockchain, Ethereum. 2) Samsung showcased its sleek in-store application Nexshop, which includes mobile POS, store associate training and targeted marketing functionalities. 3) With a combined total of over 68 trillion messages per year, Whatsapp, Messenger and WeChat are the premier global communication channels and their future is chatbot integration. 4) Vitalik Buterin, co-creator and inventor of Ethereum, discussed that Ethereum is still facing challenges when it comes to overcoming its current limitations around the number of transactions and users on its blockchain, but overcoming these is on the development roadmap for the next three to five years. Highlights from the Floor: Samsung’s Nexshop Solution We saw demos of Samsung’s impressive in-store retail solution suite Nexshop. Samsung has currently developed three applications: Nexshop Sales, Marketing and Training, which are focused on improving in-store performance by providing store associates a mobile POS solution, a marketing tool and a training app with its very own AI learning assistant. The Nexshop solution provides detailed analytics on footfall together with heat-mapping visualizations, which, in some cases, can be broken down to the product level. During the demos, the technology looked sleek and performed seamlessly. Day 2
