MISSION INCOMING
MISSION 1.9

</Mission Briefing>
Our Department of Drone Gadget Engineering (DODGE) is working on a new propeller for a range of drones.
The drones will be faster than ever before, and may or may not include cup holders and fart cannons.
DODGE has just designed a new propeller. We want you to make a prototype, design a landing pad, and then test our designs. If your tests are successful, we will use this design in our next range of drones.
</Mission Instructions>
Step 1: Make a prototype propeller. This is our latest design for a drone propeller. It's just a prototype (the real propellerwon't be made of paper), but it will still allow you to run some tests.
1. With the help of a trusted grown-up, cut out the prototype propeller (below).
2. Fold along the dotted lines.
3. Add something heavier than a piece of paper (like a paperclip) to the bottomof the prototype propeller.

Step 2: Make a landing pad for your prototype propeller. Good work, Agent. To test your propeller, you will now need a landing pad.
Colour the squares that are identified by the grid references (below). What secret letter is revealed? This secret letter is on all of our landing pads. It helps a drone to work out where it’s meant to be going.
DODGE already made a start on this, but then our pen ran out (even the best spy agencies have stationery problems)

0_.If you’ve completed this mission, go to ciakids.org/
missions to submit your mission report.
Else email us a photo of your missionto [email protected]
Else send your completed mission by post to the CIA HQ
at 20 East Road, London, N1 6AD.
Then get your Agent Logbook at www.ciakids.org and
stick in your Mission Badge.
Step 4: Send us your findings, and we will use them to update our drone designs.
How many times did your propeller land on the landing pad?
How many minutes did it take to complete your experiment?
How many times did you go to the toilet during the experiment?
Now you have a propeller and a landing pad. It’s time to put them both to the test.
1. Put your landing pad on the floor.
2. Stand up, and hold your propeller above the landing pad.
3. Drop the propeller onto the landing pad.
4. Repeat this twenty times.
5. Record your results below.
