We discussed some of the options and what the best plan of action would be going forward. I had some additional tests and scans done so that he could design a custom treatment specifically for me. The treatment regimen consists of very low dose radiation every day, five days a week for eight weeks. That answered my questions about my schedule for the near future. The treatments started on January 22. They should finish in mid-March. The anticipated side effects, if any, usually kick in a week or two after treatments wrap up. That takes us out to April before I can even think about getting back on the road. A call came in recently requesting help to get a missionary out of Brazil. He had a severe stroke and will require care for a long time to come. He can’t get it where he is at. He can not travel commercial airlines. That only leaves air ambulance. The cost would be over $120,000. The family and sending organization can’t access that much money; so, the decision was made by the family to keep him in-country caring for him as best as possible. This is just another example of where a few hundred dollars a year would provide the ability to fly him home where he really needs to be. The family had no medical insurance or medical evacuation coverage. Missionaries deserve better care than that. Between radiation treatments, I will be working with several companies to develop a coverage program that meets the needs of our missionaries. More on that is an upcoming newsletter or SITREP. I am also continuing to develop the training seminar for missionaries and sending churches. Availability of that seminar will be dependent on how things work out with this radiation. Please pray with us that God will mitigate or eliminate any side effects from the radiation. One of the good things during this treatment routine is that the doctor doesn’t want any significant changes in my weight. That means I will be delaying any diet I may have thought about going on. Thank you all again so much for your prayers, especially for Anita since she has to take care of an impatient patient. May God continue His blessing upon you as we serve Him together. February 5, 2018

The meeting in December went well with the radiation oncologist.

In His Service,
