Under work pressure the saw blade deflectsso that it is supported on points only. A hard-ened steel guide such as a ball bearing guidecannot adjust itself and will tear and chew thesaw blade from the rear which will greatly

shorten the life ol the blade. The microscopic viewshows what happens to a saw blade when used withnon-self-seating guides

GNOB SETf.SEATING GUIDESSAVE SAW BI.AIDES

The problem to provide a large bearing sur-Iace under varying working pressure hasbeen solved with the Grob guides. After"seating" itself in the guide the back of thebale wears smooth as shown by microscopicview. Note how the surlace is actually im-

proved over new unused saw blade. Long life o{ theguides is assured by a felt oiler mounted directly abovethe upper guide.

Page 6: Misc Grob brochures from 1950s

Grob self-seating guides with the new Grob Lubricator are now recognizedas the most perfect and only satisfactory guide for contour metal sawing. The guides are made of tough hard aluminum bronze, Rockwell C-34.

OUTSTANDING FEATURES OF

I Permits heavier pressure to theI saw blade thereby providing

Iaster cutting.

THE SELF-SEATING GUIDES"building up" which so olten re-sults in wedging and destroyingthe blade is eliminated.

Close support immediatelyabove and below the work, es-pecially important for narrowblades used in contour sawing.

Better vision, as the simplicityof the guides allows compactdesign requiring little space.

SAVE TIME IN CHANGE OVER AND SPECIAL JOBSThe Grob sel{-seating guides are securely clamped in adapters quickly table surface. This is of utmost importance lor instance, when sawingadjusted lor any jcib. Both upper and lower guide can be adiusted sheet metal, which is cut trouble tree in a lraction.of the time other-in height and for special jobs the lower guide can be brought above wise required. Special 90' angle guide adapters also are available.

Consult our dealer or write direct for catalog No. 10.

Like any other cutting tool, eachsaw tooth must have sullicientback pressure to dig under thesurlace of the metal to be cutand remove a chip. Assuminga normal work pressure of 100lbs. the drawing to the left clear-ly shows what the saw blade isup against when used with aball bearing guide. It alsoproves the 7 advantages of theGrob guides listed above.
