Base sa survey, sinabi ng

Sinabi niya na nagagalak at nagpapasalamat siya sa suporta ng mamamayan sa kanya at sa kanyang mga adhikain. Dahil dito, mas higit siyang

DESIGN to provide teachers a wide range of knowledge in action re-search making and to el-evate their competence and skills in the implementation of different interventions based on suggested recom-mendations, the DepEd Bukidnon had success-fully spearheaded a series of Seminar-Workshop on Action Research Making in different schedules for Northern and Southern schools. The said educa-tional activity kicked off last Dec. 21, 2011.Edu-cation Program Special-ist, Dr. Ellen Azuelo has explained thoroughly the correct format of DepEd Format Action Research. Accordingly, any action research to be conducted and studied by the teachers in the field must seek ap-proval to the higher office for validation purposes. It was also suggested that a new DepEd format of ac-tion research, which is also currently utilized by public school teachers nationwide, must be strictly followed.

Here is the format of Action Research: 1. Situ-ation 11. The Problem 111. Genetation and Al-ternative Solution 1V. Plan of Action ( includes the Objectives,Time Frame, Target Subject) V.Research Design VI. Finding of the Study V11.Conclu-sions and Recommenda-tions V111. Reflections 1X.Bibliography During the seminar proper. the teachers were required to submit at least one output to be presented to the whole group. After the activity, the participants were given a certificate of participation and fact sheets which will be utilized by teachers for their re-echo sessions in their respec-tive clusters or district. A credit to the resource speakers who had taken up the cudgels to this output-based activity, the different committees that extended their collaborative support of the DepEd thrust and programs in developing and honing the innovative skills of the teachers.

Bibingka Festival, a success

Friday is clean-up dayCAGAYAN de Oro City – The city government will be holding another clean-up day on Friday, February 15. Mayor Vicente Emano is inviting regional directors, heads of national offices, presidents of universities, colleges and schools and of civic and service groups and organizations, as well as all business establish-ments to participate in the activity. He said “their support has contributed immensely to the realization of the city’s vision of a clean Cagayan de Oro. It may be recalled that the mayor has created a committee, chaired by Councilor Dante Pajo, to oversee the monthly clean-up day activity to

give impetus to the city’s cleanliness and beautifica-

tion drive. Councilor Pajo chairs the committee on

health of the city council. (The Power)

CAGAYAN de Oro City - The Philippines is not just a country of beautiful destinations but also a paradise of food and native deli-cacies. Its rich culinary culture had led to the creation of different festivities and events that help sustain the visitors’ arrivals both local and international. One such celebrated events are the food festivals. Filipino cuisine is one of the reasons why It’s More Fun in the Philippines and that is why festivals about food have been celebrated in the country and took part in the Local Govern-ments different annual events. In Northern Mindanao, one of the municipalities of Misamis Oriental once again celebrated a festival, which has formed a part of its tourism products, the “Bibingka Festival”. Bibingka is a soft and spongy glutinous rice cake that is baked

and slightly browned on the sur-face and lined underneath with toasted banana leaves to enhance its aromatic flavor. It is topped with cheese or pinipig which has gained popularity in the culinary scenes in the country. Backed by the Department of Tourism (DOR-10) and initiated by the local government unit of Manticao town, the Bibingka Festival 2013 ran between Feb-ruary 1 and 7, along the theme “Changes with Unity: Heading to a Sustainable Development of Manticao”. The festivity was highlighted by the street dancing and tableau competitions on February 7. Manticao is located west of Misamis Oriental, reachable by jeepney or bus ride from the West Bound Terminal of Cagayan de Oro City. The fare ranges from Php 80 to Php 120 per passenger.

SEVERAL years ago, I have tried to reflect on one of the greatest fulfillment I will achieve in two to three from now. I have realized that every potential and effective mentor in the four walls of the classroom may tend to to shift from horizontal or vertical path of his/her career, For more than eight years of teaching stints and experiences,I have believed the fullest potentialities that are instinct in me and as a God’s Special gift. I dream to be an effective and efficient school head. It doesn’t mean separation of my full task as a classroom teacher.

It means venturing out to innovate something new for the betterment of school and community

services.Every prospective school leader should pos-sess honesty, integrity, professionalism, commitment and dedication to his/her services.I believe the path towards effective leadership is coupled with strong internal and external partnership or linkages.

I prove that to be a school head in the future is not a huge hoax. It is paralleled to a vision of gradual changes to achieve quality education which every learner deserves. To achieve this, a prospective school head like me must be real front liner, a reformist, of moral values and virtues, and a model of a teachers in the field. It is not a hoax in the sense that school heads are empowered to plan, cre-

ate, innovate, implement and decide something that is within the common good of both teachers, parents and community. In like manner, a prospective school leader is meant to follow the DepEd policies, thrusts and pro-grams, memos and orders from the higher-ups.

I believe I can achieve as one of the school heads in the Division of Bukid-non. I can feel some crucial circumstances and a new phase of encounters. I can visualize of riding skylab or habal-habal and even riding a horse and raft (gakit) to monitor and check the sta-tion. I can feel the laughters, shallow factions, exchange of ideas and insights from the subordinates,co-school

heads, PTA officers, barangay officials, and other school stakeholders. I can imagi-nation the death-defying rivers in different water cur-rents and long-hour hike to far-flung school just to visit and cater the needs of the learners.I can touch the mountain-like paper works and reports such as making the SIP, MOOE, and APP.

I passed the principalship exam last 2008 and I thank God for this rare achieve-ment. I’m ready to face the path of school leadership and management. I hope there are more school leaders who aspire themselves to be pillars of educational change. All of this will be realize with enthusiasm for it is only the asset in the field of work.

Deep reflections of a prospective school head

Two years ago, inter-national Filipino pianist Rudolf Golez collabo-rated with the Manila Symphony orchestra (MSo) during the birth centenary of the co-foundress of Liceo de Cagayan University, Ma-dame Elsa P. Pelaez. The enthusiastic crowd was mesmerized by the performances of almost forty musicians. This was a feat never before seen in quite a t ime in the Cagayan perfor-mance and entertain-ment scene. Rodelsa Hall is bound to surpass the record this year. This will be the first time in the history of concert venue Rodelsa Hall that 52 classical musicians will perform in one stage for a one night special benefit concert for Safer River Life Saver Foundation, the flagship community service unit of Liceo de Cagayan University that is taking care of the 17 riverside barangays along Cagayan de oro River. This coming Febru-

ary 16, at 7:30 in the evening, the Cebu Phil-harmonic orchestra (CPo) will join the wind instrumentalists from the Unites the world Project orchestra of Japan (UUU) in assist-ing international Filipino pianist Rudolf Pelaez Golez who will perform as soloist. well-loved classical pieces will be rendered for the local music lovers such as the overture of the Barber of Seville, Rachmaninoff piano concerto no. 2 and the Radetzky March. The concert is under the baton of Prof. Reynaldo Abellana. To know more about the concert and to book your seats, please feel free to call the Liceo office of Cultural Affairs at (088) 8584093 to 95 local 109 or call/text: 09176366528(Globe). THINK a minute…Some-one said: “If you have more memories than dreams, then you’ve lost your passion for living.” Imagine if we all actually lived our dreams with our eyes wide open! The problem many times is not that most people aim too high and miss, it’s that they aim too low and hit. We’ll usually get what we aim for. One of the richest men in the world said: “You have to think anyway, so why not think big!” Our dreams shouldn’t put us to sleep, they should wake us up to all our possibilities. One great leader put it this way: “The prize goes to the person who sees the future the quickest. And the best way to predict the future is to invent it. After all, if you

Live your dreamsdon’t know where you’re going, how will you know when you get there?” So if you and I can just set our goals, then concen-trate on reaching them, we could actually begin to live our life on purpose instead of by chance. But to make our dreams come true, we must live by 3 rules. First: Start right now. Second: Do your very best. And third: There are no exceptions to the first 2 rules. The former world record holder in the mile run, Jim Ryan, said: “Dreams are what get you started, but discipline is what keeps you going all the way.” How many times have you seen exciting new businesses start up with great success? They were impres-sive and promising, but then

in only a short time they failed and went out of busi-ness. They did not pay their debts, or they dropped the standards of their product or service so low that they lost their customers. It’s like some of us who diet and lose

heaps of weight, but then after awhile we gain most all of it back. Why? We just did not discipline ourselves to stay with it and permanently change our daily eating habits and lifestyle. So how about you? Do you have a dream or goal that you dare to commit to, concentrate on every day, and then complete? Something that at the end of your life you don’t want to look back and wish you had done or lived differently. Why not start now? Ask Jesus Christ to help you know the right, best dreams and goals for your life. Then, He will also help you with the discipline and will power you need to really live your dreams—with your eyes wide open. Just Think a Minute …

I HAVE gone to many coun-tries some years ago and always I compared the Philip-pines to all the places I have gone to.

Perhaps because the latter is so close to me it always come out as the best of all the foreign countries I have seen.

One thing that surprised me though, is the fact that in our country so many people just roam around doing noth-ing while others sitting down in parks, in sidewalks, in vacant lots, just talking with each other or discussing im-portant issues about politics and religion.

I surmised these people do not have job or perhaps they have retired one way or another or looking for job.

In some instances these people end up quarrelling among themselves when for-mal debates fail or whatever.

I have witnessed many times such incidents which ended up in fighting or shout-

Observations in foreign landsing because they could not settle the issues they are discussing. I would say the matter is the result of people who spend so much time doing nothing that results in misunderstanding or heated arguments. This is terrible and certainly not good.

But this thing, as I look at it, is part of our culture and habit. Filipinos have the ugly behavior of going around for nothing.

They leave the homes early in the morning, return at noon to sleep a little after lunch and go out again later in the afternoon.

This sort of program takes place everyday and some people are surprised why they do not run out of food or something.

They have money for transportation and some of them go drinking when dark-ness comes. As I said before, nobody dies of hunger in the country. Everybody has food

in the table in their homes. In Germany, the United

States of America, Italy, Aus-tria, Netherlands, Mexico, Canada, Czechoslovakia, England, Puerto Rico etc. that I had been to, I noticed nobody just walk aimlessly.

I rarely see people ex-cept in superstores, malls or elsewhere. I had not seen people in groups talking or discussing anything.

I assumed these countries have employment for every-one the reason why I did not

see anyone going astray. They are just beautiful

places and we all know them to be prosperous and rich. I could see their style and culture are far advance than ours.

Of course, I met some of them in the airports, aboard jetliners, in train stations and in restaurants and superstores and surely I was delighted of their culture.

They smile to strangers, some say hello while others create a moment when they can talk to you.

They ask you from what country you come from, your citizenship or anything just to hold you for a moment.

And because I was in their place, I adopted the simple style of giving smile to every-one I met and engage them in a short talk. I discovered, for instance, that the Roman Catholic Church is strong and widespread in these places.

Ensakto. Tiaw mo nga

kung mag-eksport ka og itlog didto sa US unya lan-ganlanganon, nah, inig-abot unya didto sa US, mga piso na ang itlog.

Nindot pud biya kung maka-eksport ka og itlog didto sa US kay maka-ingon pud ang mga kano nga “my egg is imported from the Philippines” o ba kaha “im-ported Bibingka from the Philippines.”

For more than eight years of real teaching-learning experiences, I have ob-served that most learners in school cut classes or absent in different excuses. I was very skeptical to make a first call to the parents or guardians, but when I have tried some actions, it is ful-filling and laudable! Often, most parents thanked me when I called them for a closed door conference. The momentum of my learn-ers interests in reporting to classes had gradually changed. Parents can do a lot of things to influence the learners’attitude and interests in learning. It is indeed ironic to say that many teachers nowa-days do not fully tap the parents as the potential re-sources. Undeniably speak-ing, some teachers have not received such training in working forces with the parents. Oftentimes, they are doubtful to ask for pa-rental supports. In fact, not all parents have the fullest experiences with school and teachers’ linkages. In this case, however, some teachers should reach out

to build a worthwhile and life-changing relationship and encourage a strong-teacher involvement. Once I deeply realize what an asset the parents represent,I desire to allay their concern and engage them as partners in the real teaching process. Parents,in turn, can share a colossal and valuable information about their children’s learn-ing needs. In a long run, they can support the teach-ing goals and facilitate the activities like homework and projects making at home, They can help their children learn relevant skills as well as good study habits and some approaches to problem solving. They will build mean-ingful moral support if the learners themselves face academic-related prob-lems. If teachers encounter such difficulties with their learners, inform the parents or guardians, make cell-phone calls or make home visitation even once a month is of great help. Then, make a habit of doing these from time to time and you just compare the differences.

In Prague, Czech Re-public, I visited a Catholic Church of the Holy Infant Jesus.

I observed people in these countries are disci-plined and friendly. They are up for something for the betterment of their country and their families.

They are courteous and treat foreigners as important people in their place They are extremely hospitable and welcome everyone with smiles and friendship and always try to strike a short conversation with you.

Walking around in their cities is safe and people will honestly guide you to places where you want to go. Oh God if we can only copy their lifestyle.

NPA logistics discovered by government troopsBy 1st Lt. Joe Patrick A. Martinez

OROQUIETA City - There wi l l be no transfer of government employees during the election pe-riod - January 13 to June 12, 2013 - except when there's authority from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

This is stipulated in Comelec Resolution No. 9581 that , “No public off icials shall make or cause any transfer or detail whatsoever of any officer or employee in the civil

service, including public school teachers during the election period,” ex-cept upon prior written authority of the Comelec.

The term "transfer" me ans any p ers onnel movement from one gov-ernment agency to another or from one department, division, geographical unit or subdivision of a govern-ment agency to another with or without the issu-ance of an appointment.

each measuring 250 meters in length; and subversive NPA documents.

Lt. Colonel Potenciano C. Camba, commanding officer of the 3rd Special Forces Battalion said, “the conduct of pursuit opera-tions by the military is to ensure the populace in the area that the NPA can no longer sow terror on the community.”

He thanked the people in the communities for all the information they gave to make the operation successful.

For his part, Colonel Crescente Q. Maligmat, officer-In-charge of the 402nd Infantry (Sting-

ers) Brigade stationed in Bancasi, this city, said “this implies that we are gaining grounds in our IPSO (In-ternal Peace and Security Operations) because the NPA no longer have the support of the people in the community.”

He noted, “the people are already fed up with the NPA’s countless lies and atrocities that pushed them to help the govern-ment in its peace advoca-cies.”

Col. Maglimat assured, “your Army will continue its efforts or even double it to assure that lasting peace will reign in our area.” (JPAM/asf )

person can suspend any elective provincial, city, municipal or barangay of-ficer, unless the suspension will be for purposes of ap-plying the "Anti- Graft and Corrupt Practices Act."

Again, starting March 29 until May 13, 2013, ex-cept upon prior authority of the Comelec, no head or appointing officer of any national or local gov-ernment office, agency or instrumentality, includ-ing government-owned or controlled corporations (GOCC) can do the fol-

lowing: Appoint or hire any

new employee, whether permanent, provisional, temporary, substitute or casual or create and fill any new position.

Resolution 9581 also stipulates that no govern-ment official shall promote or give any increases of salary or remuneration or privilege to any govern-ment official or employee, including those in the GOCCs, during the elec-tion period. (RCA-PIA 10, Misamis Occidental/asf )

BUTUAN CITY, Agusan del Norte --- Govern-ment forces operating in the hinterlands of Sitio Bato-Batohan, Brgy San Antonio, RTR, Agusan del Norte discovered an NPA logistics cache morning of February 10, this year.

The troops, belonging to the 3rd Special Forces Battalion, Special Opera-tions Command, Philip-pine Army, were conduct-ing pursuit operations due to the recent heavy equip-

ment burning in Santiago town on February 6, when they discovered the cache.

Earlier, civilian resi-dents of the area have reported the location of the ‘arsonists’. Such in-formation has led to the discovery of two anti-personnel/anti-tank land-mines (10 kls each); one anti-personnel/anti-tank landmine (20 kgs); one container containing 20 litters of gasoline; two rolls of detonating cord,

Mangaoang.

CAGAYAN de oro City – A total of P18,523,000.00 seed capital from the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social welfare and Development (DSwD) has been released to 3,435 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino beneficiaries in Lanao del Norte province recently.

These beneficiaries come from 181 Self-Employment Assistance sa Kaunlaran Ar-eas (SKAs) in the province organized by Project Devel-opment officers of SLP, in coordination with Pantawid Pamilya field workers under the Convergence strategy of the three core social protec-tion programs of the agency.

Under the SLP, benefi-ciaries are allowed to get a loan ranging from P5,000 to P10,00 for their livelihood projects, which they them-selves choose, Atty. Araceli F. Solamillo, DSwD Field office 10 Regional Director, said.

These loans, which are community-based that do not bear any interest and do not need any collateral are payable in one year so that others can also borrow under the same set of arrangements, Solamillo said.

In Kapatagan town, the 57 SKAs with 1,035 mem-bers received P5,772,000.00 while the 41 SKAs with 865 members in Lala has granted P4,442,000.00.

The Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries of the interior municipalities Nunungan, Sal-vador and Sapad received P400,000.00; P1,330,000.00, and P875,000.00 respectively.

Meanwhile, Sultan Naga Di-maporo town beneficiaries with 50 SKAs have P5,704,000.00 for their seed capital loan.

These beneficiaries, ac-cording to their project pro-posal, will be engaging in different types of livelihood projects such as handicraft making, hog fattening, cook-ing, buy-and-sell, among oth-ers.

The SKA members are all Pantawid Pamilya Set 1 grantees.

Aside from the 4P benefi-ciaries, qualified to borrow are those who are listed in the National Housing Targeting System (NHTS), Solamillo added.

To ensure the success of the SLP, a five-component program that starts with a partnership-building with the community, local government units have been developed by DSwD.

Included in the process is the social preparation involv-ing a Participatory Livelihood Issue Analysis and Value Chain Analysis, as well as Financial Literacy and Self-Awareness for the benefi-ciaries.
