Middleton Cheney embarks on Major new Neighbourhood Plan project!

Middleton Cheney is about to go through an important stage in its development. We will

be creating a key planning document called the Neighbourhood Plan which affects

the future of the village.

What is a Neighbourhood Plan?

The Government’s Localism Act introduces new rights and powers for communities and

individuals to enable them to get more involved in planning for their areas.

Neighbourhood Planning will allow our community to come together through the Parish

Council and say where we think new houses, businesses and shops should go – and what

they should look like. Eventually, the Neighbourhood Plan will be adopted by South

Northants Council as a Planning Authority and the Neighbourhood Plan will become a

statutory (legal) planning instrument.

Our chance to shape our Future

The Government is clear that the purpose of Neighbourhood Plans is about building

neighbourhoods and not stopping growth. We are keen to embrace the growth of our

community through sensible and appropriate development, and this is our chance to

really influence the development of the village

Your Views are Important!

We also want the Neighbourhood Plan to be very much about our community and how

we all see our own Village; it’s your village, and the Neighbourhood Plan should be for

you, by you.

Over the coming months we will be seeking views and contributions to the Middleton

Cheney Neighbourhood Plan, through a formal consultation. Everybody will get the

opportunity to say what they think, but you can also be proactive and help us set the

agenda! These are some of the topics which will be covered by The Plan:

Housing/Development/Industry/Commerce ● Young/Elderly/Health/School

Transport/Roads/Policing/Environment ● Leisure/Recreation/Church/Social

How can I get involved?

See the MCNP Stand at the Village Hall Open Day on Saturday 15th September

Attend a 15 minute presentation during the day…11.30am, 1.00pm and 3.00pm.

Come to MCNP meetings (next Meeting is Tuesday 2nd October at 7.30pm at the

Parish Meeting Rooms)

Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Gifts 2012‘ Shoeboxes bursting with joy’

Just imagine: for many disadvantaged children in the world, a shoebox wrapped in

cheery paper and filled with small gifts and goodies is the first Christmas present they’ve

ever received.

You may already have supported, or heard of, this project run annually by Samaritan’s

Purse, and which the Sunday School and congregations of All Saints and the Methodist

Church in this village have supported for the last few years.

Individuals, families or groups of friends/colleagues are invited to make up a

Shoebox or boxes of suitable new goodies for a boy or girl in one of three age groups:

2-4 years, 5-9 years or 10-14 years.

We also welcome any contributions of goodies, empty shoeboxes (approx 7” x 12” x 5”),

and money donations to help with distribution costs. These and completed boxes can be

dropped off at the Library and The Butler’s Pantry Cafe until Saturday 6th November.

Final date for dropping off completed shoeboxes is Monday 15th November.

On two Saturday mornings – 30th October and 6th November, from 9.30am to 1pm, we

shall be wrapping and filling shoeboxes in the Methodist Schoolroom (also a drop off

point on these mornings).

Anyone who can help on these mornings will be very welcome.

Leaflets with full details, including a list of suitable items, are available from any of the

above drop off points, or please call:

Mary Phipps on 01295 712894 or Carol Souch on 01295 275334.

MC SINGERS – Middleton now has a community choir led by Sue Wightman. We

welcome anyone from 8 – 80 (and older) who likes to sing and who

will join us for the fun of singing with a group. No previous

experience is necessary!

We have occasional, friendly, performances; the next is in the Village

Hall at their Open Day on 15th Sept. and then a Carol Concert in the

Church on Dec 2nd.

We hold weekly rehearsals in the Library at 6.30pm for one hour on

Wednesday evenings, in during school terms. We ask £1 each week to cover expenses.

COME AN JOIN US. The next rehearsal is on Sept 5th. Put the date in your diary.
