2016 GOTV Campaign Metro Detroit Our 2016 GOTV Campaign started with the launch of our website Voter
Education Network, http://votereducationnetwork.org/ and our supporting
Facebook page, www.facebook.com/VoterEducationNetwork/?fref=ts.
Our chapter launched a Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/MDAPRI/, and an Action Network organizing
website database, https://actionnetwork.org/groups/metro-detroit-a-philip-randolph-institute, to document and
make our work public during this GOTV cycle. Links to these tools are provided below and access to a private
training Facebook account, for guidance and informational purposes, is available to APRI National, Regional, and
State leadership.
GOTV Activities Summary We work to incorporate a nonpartisan GOTV when
interacting with the community. Our record of events
and activities are documented on a time line and
recorded, when possible, and available below in the
added links.
Our GOTV Campaign was built around phone banking
within a radius surrounding partner locations in Detroit
districts 2, 4, 5, and 6. These locations consisted of 3
churches and 2 community center locations in Detroit
which were Hartford-District 2, King Solomon- District
5, Liberty Temple-District 2, Clark Park District 6 and
MASH Detroit-District 4. Attached is a full report on the
results of our phone banking campaign from Michigan
Voices. We utilized virtual and manual approaches to
phone banking and we combined a 20,700 piece literature distribution in these areas.
The door hangers and posters replicated our phone banking script.
We conducted traditional phone banking with cell phones provided by State Voices and with new technology to convey
phone calls via VOIP, voice over IP. Five virtual phone banks were constructed with new computer hardware called
Raspberry PI 3. Phone Banking stations were fashioned with these mini computers at a nominal cost of $200 per station
and Voice over IP programming software was worked out by the end of the 2016 election.
The results are as follows:
121 voter registrations
24 absentee ballots
6535 total phone bank attempts, 1129 total canvased, 1617 total messages left for a contact rate of 17%
11,500 contacts reached of our GOTV campaign social media postings. Supporting data is attached in PDF tiled

We incorporated tools provided by the AFL-CIO Common Sense Economics training and education program into our
onsite and social media GOTV program. This program was created by union members and progressive allies to educate
working people on how actions and policies impact our economy.
