The new 2013 membership cards are here, so be on the
lookout for your renewal notice. Anyone who hasn’t received a
renewal letter please let me know ASAP. If you have a new ad-
dress let me know so I can get your renewal out to you. Remem-
ber you cannot drink at the Legion if you do not have a current
card. I will give the list of unpaid member to the bartenders and
they will not serve you until you pay your dues. We still have a
few sons’ emails that are not working. If you are not getting
yours by email please let me know. Anyone who is not receiving
your news letter via e-mail please drop me a note and we will get
it fixed.
Attention all sons we have the third Wednesday night
bingo at the legion. We need more help 3-7:30. We need help
with set up as well as in the kitchen.
We need more sons to attend our meetings we have a
busy year ahead of us.
If any son’s member would like anything put in our
news please let me know. You can leave me a note in our mail-
box or call me 679-8361 and we will get it in the newsletter. We
would like to see as many sons attend these meeting so we can get
some new ideas of things to do. We have a very busy year ahead
so please come and help.
Here is a list of the next few meetings. THEY START AT 7:00,
NOTE THEY ARE ON TUESDAYS NOW. The next meeting
will be September 25th.
I would also like to extend my thanks to all of the Sons
who have helped with our fund raisers. There seems to always
be the same few members who help. The beach party was a great
success thanks to all those who helped. I would like to send a big
thank you to jack brown for donating all the sand for the beach
party and our horseshoe pits. We hope to have it again next year.
The family picnic will be august 19th 1-5 hope to see you all there.
We hope to do more fundraisers like this soon and hope to get
the same amount of help it really goes smoother with more help
thank you. Please sign up to help Mark at the legion booth at the
fair. I would like to thank Dave k for helping with the cooking
for bingo. I would like send a big thank you to Peter Sansone
from Paul DeLima for donating coffee to our troops.
Lastly and most importantly everyone keep the 427th
Brigade in your prayers and thoughts. Some of these troops are
our own members.

and our meetings.
Thank you,
Bill Bell

Adjutant’s Agitation By Doug Herrmann
363 Have renewed so far – 59% of our Goal of 615
We are going ahead with our renewals, and I am asking
everyone to renew as soon as possible and lets try to
reach 100% by the end of the year instead of late spring.
One thing I want to bring out is this: When you leave a
note or phone call message for me at the Post, please put
your full name and phone where you can be reached on
the note. I get notes for replacement cards or asking
about a paid renewal and am not going to waste time
trying to find out who “Jack” or “Tom” or “Buster” is.
If I get notes like that, don’t expect a reply because after
spending 1 ½ hours going through lists and on the web
trying to match a nickname with a member, I gave up
and threw the note away. I also plan on going through
the mailing list, and eliminating members who have not
yet paid for 2012. I am still holding about 40 renewals
for that year and will drop them from the rolls.

Troop news Troop news One of our members of the sons Ted, gave us a name of one of ours in Afghanistan. He was sent to a terrible
place their. Then he came back to base with pack-ages waiting for him, with all kinds of goodies. Yeah we sent that. He told Ted that he felt like someone cares about what he’s doing. He sent a big thank you, for what we do as a family group here at the legion post 787. Also, See the letter on the next page. Troop Chairperson—Linda Jackson.

Hello fellow Legion members, The summer is flying by, but there is still plenty of riding left for the season! I want to welcome our newest members, Ginger Gersbacher, Eduardo Gonzalez, Ken Yackel and John Ryan. Welcome aboard! As of this writing our membership stands at 75 Legion Riders. I want to thank all those who participated in the Travel-ing Wall escort on July 25th from Phoenix to the Mexi-co VFW. I had the honor of being Ride Captain, and worked with Jen Lane and VFW Commander Russ Marsden who both did an outstanding job bringing the wall to our area. The Riders were represented at the opening ceremonies by myself and Ned Barnes. This was a very moving weekend for those of us who served during the Viet Nam War. Our Vets held their first benefit ride on Aug 19th at Long Branch Park. The ride traveled through Victory to the Hannibal American Legion, back through Granby to 690 and Long Branch. There were approximately 43 bikes. Food was donated by Wegman’s and prepared by the Dinosaur BBQ. This is a great cause and should only grow in the future. The scrap drive we recently had netted Feed Our Vets about $250.00 after expenses. Thanks to all who partic-ipated. The Riders have a new web site created by Chad Waybright, alr787.com, check it out. If you are interest-ed in joining the Legion Riders contact me at [email protected]. Rides and events are on the web-site, and on our board at the Legion. Our next meeting is September 11th at 7pm Remember, Freedom isn't free! Support our troops Bruce Dauer V. Pres. ALR 787

Remember Our Fallen -
One Wreath At A Time
Hi
I am writing to you, because Wreaths Across America needs your help to honor our veterans.
Right now we are asking the people who are the closest to us, like you, to become a “Champion”, by setting-up their own person-
alized fundraising page, reaching out to your network, and helping drive awareness.
unching a social fundraising campaign, which will hopefully allow us to reach many new people, outside our usual supporter
base.
How? By asking our supporters to not only give, but more importantly spread the word to their family and friends.
This is an awesome way to let more people know why YOU care about our veterans and all they have sacrificed for our freedoms.
Together we can show our veterans, and their families that we will not forget. We will never forget!
It will have a REAL impact come December when we honor every single veteran who ever served to protect our freedoms, and
only takes 10 min and a few clicks of the mouse! Here is how:
1) Look for the Orange button saying “Start Fundraising”. You will be asked to register or login. If you would like to support a
specific location in your community, please contact Elaine at [email protected].
2) Enter a Nick Name. In the Pledge field, enter the amount you believe you can raise with the help of your family and friends.
Click “Continue”
3) Post a personal photo or a link to a YouTube video. Add a personal message and click “Save”.
4) Now is the time to call your friends to action! Click on "Invite" or "Share" and start spreading your personalized page and goal.
Remember: just like you, people are busy - although they might feel the same about our veterans and patriotism, if you want to
truly get to the top of their inbox, make sure to send them a quick, personalized note once a week for 5 weeks in a row.
Don't spam them - just remind and inspire them.
This is the level of social impact you can make by sharing your page with 100 friends.
You can also track results by clicking on "My give2gether" at the top of the page - to see how many of your friends visited your
page and how many of them sponsored a wreath.
Please join us- our veterans deserve to know how we feel about their service and sacrifice! And feel free to contact us for any
questions.
Thanks SO much!
