About the Treffert CenterThe Treffert Center features a library, child care and therapeutic services.

The Treffert Library has a catalog of books, videos, documentaries, journals, artwork and periodicals on autism, savant syndrome, acquired savant syndrome, hyperlexia and other types of exceptional brain performance. The library is open to the public, and available to communities local and abroad by appointment. The goal of the Treffert Library is to make available and expand upon the life work of Dr. Darold Treffert, focusing on individual strengths rather than limitations. Dr. Treffert continues his research work investigating these areas in collaboration with the Treffert Center staff. The Treffert Academy offers a stimulating educational program in a warm, nurturing setting. The Treffert Academy focuses on the three strongest predictors of wellness and life success - social/emotional skills, self-regulation and empathy. Children are taught to form relationships based on trust, fairness and sensitivity to the feelings of others. These skills are taught in a movement-based program that benefits all children. Our creative curriculum also teaches to the individual talents of each child. The Treffert Academy offers all-day preschool for children ages three to five years old, before and after school care for school-aged children, all-day care on days with no school, summer programming and 4K. Therapeutic services available at the Treffert Center include medical consultation, occupational therapy, speech language therapy, psychotherapy and multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment of autism, behavior and communication disorders in children and adults. For families accessing services through Agnesian Beyond Boundaries of Autism (ABBA), treatment includes in-home, center-based and community-based programs.
