TheAEMC®Model514isageneralpurposeprofessionalclamp-onmeter thatmeasuresup to the tougheststan-dards.Thismeteroffersacompletesetofmeasurementranges includingACAmps,ACVolts,DCVolts,Ohms,Continuity with beeper, Frequency from V orA, DiodeTestfunctionandalsousesHallEffectsensortechnologythatprovidesbothDCandACcurrentmeasurementsto1000A.TheModel514isincompliancewithinternationalsafetyandqualitystandardstoensureprofessionalandreliablemeasuringtools.
The Models 514 is sized for comfortable, one-handedoperation. The tapered and hooked jaw design facili-tatesmaneuveringincrowdedwiringandbreakerpanels,making it easy to select conductors. The jaw openingaccommodates one 750kcmil cable or two 350kcmilcables.Thelargeandeasy-to-read4000-countLCDfea-turescomprehensiveuser informationsymbols,suchaslow battery, polarity, overload, and an analog bargraphforeasytrendreadings.It isequippedwithaDataHoldfunctionthatfreezesthemeasurementforlaterviewing,Min/Max,andafast1msPeakHoldfunctionforcaptureofsignals.

4.1 Button Functions
4.1.1 Data Hold
• Thelastreadingmaybeheldonthedisplaybypress-ingtheHOLDbutton.The symbolwillbedisplayedindataholdmode.
• Whenthehelddataisnolongerneeded,releasetheholdfunctionbypressingtheHOLDbuttonagain.
4.1.2 Peak Hold Function
• Thismeterisbuiltwith1mspeakholdfunctiononAAC,VAC,ADC and VDCranges.
• Calibrationisnecessarybeforeperformingapeakholdoperation.
• To start the calibration process, press and hold thePEAKbutton for2seconds. “CAL”willdisplayon theLCDand theoffsetwill be calculatedandkept in themeter.
• Aftercalibration,chooseeither or bypressingthePeakHoldbuttontokeepthepeakreading.
• PressingthePEAKbuttonfor2secondswillreturnthemeter back to normal operation.
• Oncethefunctionrangeischanged,themeterwillneedanothercalibrationforpeakmeasurement.

• Removethetestleadsonanyinputbeforeopeningthecase.
• Donotoperate theclamp-onprobewithoutabatterycase cover.
• To avoid electrical shock, do not attempt to performanyservicingunlessyouarequalifiedtodoso.
• Toavoidelectricalshockand/ordamagetotheinstru-ment,donotgetwaterorotherforeignagentsintotheprobe.
5.2 Cleaning
• Tocleantheprobe,wipethecasewithadampclothandmilddetergent.
• Donotuseabrasivesorsolvents.
• Do not get water inside the case. This may lead toelectricalshockordamagetotheinstrument.

5.3 Battery Replacement
• TheClamp-onMeterModel514 ispoweredbya9Vbattery.The symbolwillappearontheLCDdisplaywhen thesupplyvoltagedropsbelowproperoperat-ingrange.Thisindicatesthatthebatteryneedstobechanged.
• Themetermust be in theOFF position and discon-nectedfromanycircuitorinput.
• Place the meter face down and loosen the batterycoverscrewwithascrewdriver.
• Replacetheoldbatterywithanew9Vbattery.
• Replace the battery compartment cover and tightendownthescrew.

• Useelmedidorsólocomoseespecificaeneste manual de usuario. De otra forma se puede dañar la protección del instrumento.
• Nunca utilice este medidor en un circuito con voltajes superiores a 600Vrms @ 50/60Hz, Cat. III o 1000V, Cat. II.
• Nunca mida corriente mientras los cables de prueba estén conectados a las entradas.
• No opere el medidor si la carcasa o los cablesdepruebaestándañados.
• Reviseelselectorderangorotatorioyasegúresequeestáenlaposicióncorrectaantes de cada medición.
• No realice pruebas de resistencia ni de continuidad en un circuito vivo.

• Cuandononecesitemáseldato,liberelafunciónman-tener lectura presionando el botón Hold nuevamente.
4.1.2 Mantener Valor de Pico• Funciónmantenervalordepicode1msenlosrangos
ACA, VCA, ACD y VCD.• Antes de efectuar la operación mantener valor de pico
es necesaria una calibración.• Para iniciar el proceso de calibración, presione y man-
tengapresionadoelbotóndepicopor2segundos.Semostrará “CAL” en la pantalla LCD y se calculará yalmacenaráenelmedidorelcorrimiento.
• Después de la calibración, seleccione o presio-nandoelbotónmantenervalordepicoparaguardarlalectura de pico.
• Presionando el botón pico durante 2 segundos elmedidorvolveráalaoperaciónnormal.
• Unavezquesecambiaelrangodefunción,elmedidorrequiere una nueva calibración para otra medición de valor de pico.

botón HOLD y tome la lectura.
Advertencia: Al medir frecuencia no utilice las entradas de voltaje y de corriente simul-táneamente.Estopuedeserpeligroso.Siseusan ambas entradas al mismo tiempo se produciránlecturaserróneas.

5.1 Advertencia!
• Retire los cables de prueba de las entradas antes de abrir la caja. No opere el medidor de tenaza sin la cubierta del compartimiento de la batería.
• Paraevitarunchoqueeléctrico,nointenterealizarnin-gunareparaciónsinoestácalificadoparahacerla.
• Paraevitarunchoqueeléctricoy/odañoalinstrumentonopermita queentre aguau otro agente extrañoalinterior del medidor.
5.2 Limpieza
• Para limpiar el medidor, frote la caja con un paño húmedoyundetergentesuave.Nouseabrasivosnisolventes.
• No permita que entre agua dentro de la caja. Estopuedeconduciraunchoqueeléctricoodañarelins-trumento.

5.3 Reemplazo de la Batería
• El Modelo 514 es alimentado por una batería de 9V. Cuando el voltaje de alimentación cae por debajo del rangodeoperaciónapropiadoapareceenlapantallaLCD el símbolo .
• El medidor debe estar en la posición OFF y desconec-tado de cualquier circuito o entrada.
• Coloque el medidor cara abajo y suelte el tornillo de la cubierta de la batería con un destornillador.
• Reemplace la batería vieja por una nueva de 9V.
• Reponga la tapa del compartimiento de batería yapriete el tornillo.
