QUESTION 1
In what ways does you media
product use, develop or challenge
the forms and conventions of real
media products?
The front cover of my magazine subscribes to a music
that you would by in the shop because it has, a
masthead, a cover star(s) that will be the main feature of
the magazine and the cover stars are looking straight at
the camera this also follows the conventions of a music
magazine.
The thing that I doesn‟t follow the conventions of a
magazine i would say on my magazine is the way the
cover stars are positioned as the are not as close as
maybe some other magazines would like.
The magazines that influence my magazine and have
give me some ideas through the construction are “VIBE
and The Source” this is mainly because they are hip hop
and rap magazines which is my genre that I wanted my
magazine to represent.

bes-kanye-west-issue-analysis.html
To get some ideas and look at what things
the other magazines were doing to make
them look the best they can be I started to
analyze the magazines to see what I liked
about them and what they were doing to
conform to their target audience.
To the right is a link to an analysis that I
have done on a “VIBE” magazine
Vibe magazine has heavily
influenced New Style with how
the cover lines are created
around the cover star I think this
helps incorporate the cover star
in to every issue of the magazine
I like also the font used in vibe as
it is not to much but still has that
edge need to suit the genre but
the reader will be able to read it
easily when having a quick look
at it.
When I looked at the source magazine I saw this front cover
and it struck me tat to have a front a group it doesn‟t have to be
blocked on a white background and staged, this is what I took
and incorporated it in to my magazine and used an effective
setting that represented the cover star better than a white
background.
My contents page I think is very unique in
how I have laid out the text and
incorporated it in to the background of the
picture I think this a going incorporates
the magazine to the cover star the is not
a lot going on on the contents page and it
doesn't‟t look like an ordinary contents
page it is quite simple but I think it is more
effective this way as a whole.
But the inspiration I got for doing this was
of a vibe front cover I found that I think
uses the background to its full ability and
is very simple but again effective.

My double page spread is again quite simple as I think the photographs taken
are very effective and bold so I worked around the photographs taken this was
so that they looked and was the main feature of the pages as well as the Q&A I
used this as a way of interviewing as I thought it was a good way of telling the
reader what they want to know about the group. The way I set up my double
page spread was again influenced by vibe as it only has the content on one
page and just a quote on the other page I liked this because I think it lets the
first page say a lot before you start reading the article.
eing the talk of the rap scene
Of 2013 has really taken this triple
threat by storm by and we have been
chatting to these
guys about how
there life has
changed in the last
12 months and
what is in the pipe line for STS in 2013.
Q: “What was you' r e inspir at ion t o
st ar t a cr ew of 3 young people and what
you st and for ? “
Jeezy’s Response : “The thing that inspired us to start and come together
as a crew was the fact that our ability
of rapping is just too sick and together
we are unstoppable; What we stand for
is we represent what we came from
until the end.”
Q: “So when do you f ind t he t ime t o
wr it e your t unes because you r eleasing
dope songs , your mix t apes ar e coming
out fast er and bet t er
t han most people in
t he scene at t he mo-
ment ?“
Ash’s Response: “ We don't write
bro we Freestyle, if we was to write we
wouldn't of made so many tracks and we
wouldn't of been on our third mix tape in
a year , the mix tapes wouldn't be as
good as well as we don't
write the freestyle gives
us more freedom to say
and feel what we like this
is raw talent for you.”
Q: “What has changed for t he most
since 2012 and what would you change if
“We ar e Unst oppable.”
- Jeezy
Cee’s Response: “Even though we
wasn't short of the girls attention be-
fore we started to touring but since we
started to blow up and after we sold out
Madison Square Gardens the female at-
tention tripled and we are mobbed every
where we go but hey, who's complaining
as the say no publicity is bad publicity.
And the moment we love it!”
Q: “We heard that you all have a tour
bus each! Whys this don't you get bored
on your own.
Jeezy’s Response: “If we are going
to do it we might as well do it big, all
three of us need our own space so by
having 3 tour buses we can relax and
have sometime to relax on our own. Plus
we don't have to wait for the toilet in
the morning cause
we all got our own ha
-ha,. Who said we
was on our own any-
way we have the
maddest party's in
each bus our motto is “Go Hard Or Go
Home” ”
“Go Har d Or Go Home “

QUESTION 2
How does your media product
represent particular social groups?
The social groups that my magazine
represents I would say are younger people
that are in to rap and grime artists and music
and are maybe also into the street look and
what they where would represent this as well
as I think there fashion would be similar to the
group in my magazine it is pretty much the
same target audience of a magazine like „The
Source‟ or „vibe‟.
The features in my magazine such as the main
feature who is Sts which are a young group of
lads who come across as arrogant and cocky
this is because they feel like they are
unstoppable and are the best and this
represents young people as a whole.
QUESTION 3
What kind of institution might your
media product and why?
The distributer that would more than likely
make and produce my magazine will be
bauer as they publish mainstream
magazines and I think for my magazine it
needs a distributor like this because I think it
is for a mass market and will have a lot of
demand as there a lot of people who would
read it as they would be interested in the rap
artists featured in the magazine as they are
popular at the moment so this is why I think a
big distributor is right for my magazine as a
small one may not be a be to cope with the
demand of the magazine.

QUESTION 4
Who would be the target audience
for your media product?
The target audience for my magazine are
going to be male of around the 16+ this
because some the content in the
magazine is going to be a bit explicit as
the music that it will be about is most of
the time also quite explicit thy will also be
incline to like and listen to rao music and
the couture that this music genre brings.
The magazine will tell the reader new
information about this genre and the
scene that rap has created and what is
going on and going happen. I have
created a question for my magazine to
have a look at what they want to see in
the magazine and generally what they
would like to get out of the magazine. My target audience will be very much the
same as „vibe‟ and „the source‟ as these
are both rap magazines.

QUESTION 5
How did you attract/address you
audience?
Firstly what I did was use the effect of black and white on the background of the front cover and I used
paint .NET to keep the colours in the cover stars I did
this because I wanted to show that this group are new
and they are fresh I think by doing this effect I think that
it looks makes them look new and everything doesn't‟t
matter as they are in colour and the rest aren't so it
immediately puts the emphasis on them which gives
them presents on the page .
The background I used is very urban and street this is
also to relate to the target audience as this relates to
the rap culture with graffiti it gives a rebellious look to
the magazine.
The mast head I think is quite clean
cut compared to the rest of the
magazine I though it was best to
keep the mast head quite simple as it
has to be on every single magazine
produced so I think it would‟t look
right if it had too many things going
on with it, I noticed that the only thing
other magazines were changing was
the colour of the massed head.
The way my magazine was
set up I think the language
suits the target audience
very well because it uses
colloquial term like „fresh‟
this relates to the target
audience as these would be
the terms they would use.
The range of pictures I've used are all
pictures are taken in a very street and gritty
location this Is to relate to the target
audience as they would know and be familiar
to these locations it also represents the
group that is featuring in the magazine this is
because they are an urban group and by it
not being clean and not a white background
this immediately tells the audience what type
of magazine it is.
By having puffs in the magazine tempts
the target audience to buy it as they
would want the things that are up for
grabs in the magazine like an ipad also
by having exclusives from celebrities
also makes the audience want to find
out more this intices them to buy and
get the magazine and want to read it
QUESTION 6
What have you learned about
technologies from the process of
constructing the product
For most of the construction of
my magazine have used the
majority of paint. NET this is
because it is a really good tool to
use when editing and using the
layers to help construct the
magazine.
The thing that paint. Net helped me do and I don‟t
think I would have been able to do it if I never
learned how to use and be competent at it Is to
make the background black and white but keep the
cover stars the same. I feel I used the tools of paint
.NET effectively so that this was made and looked
as smooth as possible
Tools like the magic wand made it a lot easier take out
the background of things and make it sharp so that it
didn‟t look like the background was there to begin
with.
Also on the front cover I used
paint.NET to edit the „iTunes
Festival‟ logo, as it originally had
a date on it but the date was
2010 this didn‟t fit my magazine,
so I changed the colour and
filled it in.
The use of different lenses
helped me capture the shots
I needed so that I could get
the effects I needed so that I
could use them to create my
contents page and to make
pictures different and
obscure.
On the front cover of my magazine
there is a fish eye lens effect on the
photo this I think is good because it
gives a very old school look to the
photo as this is looks like it has been
taken with a older camera I also like
the black edges around the photo his
I think make it look like a frame and
gives the photo some importance.
On the contents page I used the panorama effect this is effect
makes the picture taken longer I used this in a horizontal way so
that I got the bridge in the photo I likes this because I had the
contents in mind when I took the picture as it is a solid colour this
aloud me to put the contents on just the picture and use it again
as the background.
At first I didn’t know how to use blogger bet after a few weeks of finding
out what to do I finally got it and this is when I started making blog
posts and benefitting from the research that I did because it was
starting to make sense when tasks were set I could get them done and
put up on the blog for people to see the only real problems I had with
blogger was that sometimes there was problems uploading pictures on
to the blog so I had to go home and do it.

QUESTION 7
Looking back to your preliminary
task, what do you feel that you have
learnt from the progression to the full
product
Preliminary task Final
On the front covers there is a change in the quality of the two pages because I
feel that the final piece just generally looks more professional the preliminary
task has number of pages to each title through lack of knowledge I though this
was ok to have but by doing research I saw that, that‟s what a contents is for.
Preliminary task Final
I think the preliminary task is quite a good starting point for the resources that were
provided at the time the thing that I learned was that I shouldn't cover the feature artist
this is because in the preliminary task I think the contents looks cluttered and this is the
one thing I think I avoided In my final piece.
At the end of this brief I think my end product is made to a good level, I think that I have
been able to do this and work to the best of my abilities as I have researched the genre
and different magazines; I have been influenced by them so that my magazine fits the
target audience and goes with most of the codes and conventions that fit a magazine, I
also think by being able to use the technology programs well I used this and made my
end product look as professional as possible when using these programs.
