A treatment is the anatomy of a music video in conjunction with the song. It is a process whereby every lyric, rhythm, or message can be broken down into visual segments . A treatment is the embodiment of a director’s vision. It helps him/her understand and analyse possible storylines and subtexts in the song. Also it helps the director come up with visual patterns that could serve as the backbone for the entire video. A music video can be abstract, narrative, performance driven, or the three combined. The only rule to know when writing a music video treatment is knowing how professionalism or proper structure remains key to an effective treatment. 1.Define the Goals and Set Parameters. -Who do you want to watch the video? The younger (15-21) audience of the mainstreamers. This is because our chosen singer aims her music towards them. We therefore want to target this part of the mainstream audience as the music entices them and visuals will enhance it. The audience is slightly older since the music video is quite sexual and not suitable for younger audiences. -What's the desired outcome you'd like to create- purchases, political/ social change, and/or a good laugh? (You could consider Blumler & Katz here). The creation for our music video is to entertain our target audience. We found that they enjoy an interesting storyline which matches with the genre. We have chosen to present a storyline quite similar to the original music video. We aim to represent the character as being but also very sexual as it connects very well to the lyrics as well as the song title. These two themes contrast with each other and also fit with the genre. This links with Laura Mulveys theory of the ‘Male Gaze’ where the females are sexualised within the media and is very true considering the evidence. It is common for this to happen in the genre, for example, Bon Appetit by Katy Perry shows her being an object to men in a sexualised manner. -What's your budget and how long will the video run? The video will run the length of the song since we will include both a storyline and lip syncing which will take up a majority of the music video. The production won’t cost anything because we will be using the resources we already have. 2.Whats the Concept? You’ll want to be able to quickly summarize the theme and objective for the video. There must be at least one core message. There is no clear objective for the music video, however, you can take from it that people are complex and not everyone is who they seem. Some people can hide dark secrets about themselves. 3.Whats the Approach? Now's the time to lay out the specifics. This is generally a narrative summary of the journey the audience is going to take. A clear summary that reveals all of the important details which will be presented to the viewer. Describe specifics that will elicit response by the audience including shooting style, and editing approach. Describe the emotions you will solicit along the journey and how the audience will feel at the videos end.

The only rule to know when writing a music video treatment is knowing how professionalism or proper

structure remains key to an effective treatment.

1.Define the Goals and Set Parameters.

-Who do you want to watch the video? The younger (15-21) audience of the mainstreamers. This is because our chosen singer aims her music towards

them. We therefore want to target this part of the mainstream audience as the music entices them and visuals will enhance it. The audience is slightly older since the music video is quite sexual and not suitable for younger

audiences.

-What's the desired outcome you'd like to create- purchases, political/ social change, and/or a good laugh? (You could consider Blumler & Katz here). The creation for our music video is to entertain our target audience. We found that they enjoy an interesting storyline which matches with the genre. We have chosen to present a storyline quite similar to the original

music video.

The video will run the length of the song since we will include both a storyline and lip syncing which will take

up a majority of the music video. The production won’t cost anything because we wi ll be using the resources we already have.

2.Whats the Concept? You’ll want to be able to quickly summarize the theme and objective for the video.

There must be at least one core message. There is no clear objective for the music video, however, you can take from it that people are complex and not

everyone is who they seem. Some people can hide dark secrets about themselves.

3.Whats the Approach? Now's the time to lay out the specifics. This is generally a narrative summary of the journey the audience is going to take. A clear summary that reveals all of the important details which will be

presented to the viewer. Describe specifics that will elicit response by the audience including shooting style, and editing approach. Describe the emotions you will solicit along the journey and how the audience will

feel at the videos end.

Summary of the journey through the music video – what will the audience see?

Summary of the response to this journey- what will the audience

Narrative/ Sequencing Technical (i.e. composition, movement, editing etc.)

Desired effect

Beginning The audience will see an innocent woman following a guy. She will be holding a notebook and look at it. The camera will transition to show the scrapbook containing pictures of the guy she is following. Upon further inspection, she is looking at her painting of a guy who she fantasies over.

A low angle shot may be used when first presenting the actress since she is meant to be shown as innocent however, close ups of the book will show who she really is. After this, the camera will change to mid shots and use panning to show off the actresses’ body parts

We will present to the audience an innocent woman who you wouldn’t look twice at. When she opens the scrapbook though, the audience will be slightly confused about why she has a scrapbook full of images of a guy. Because of the title of the song, they will be expecting something very sexual. However, this is a good thing because one of our themes in the contrast between purity and sexualisation.

Middle She will be performing multiple sexual acts throughout to show the seriousness for the fetish for the male character.

Various shots will be used such as close ups and mid shots. The main actress will be the focus and the editing will help maintain the audience keeping their view on her.

We aim to make the audience feel quite shocked with how much she is in love with him. The audience will feel intrigued by the actress and want to know why she’s obsessed with this man. This will be gradual however as we aim to show the obsession more and more over the course of time.

End At the end, the main actress will walk past the main actor. He will then look at his own scrapbook that will contain pictures of her.

To show this, we will use a long shot while the actress walks past. After this, we will transition to a mid-shot to show him with the book and then an over the shoulder shot of him looking in the book.

The storyline will shock the audience. They will also feel surprised at the fact that each character has a fetish for each other. The audience would be satisfied because, if the storyline were continued, the two characters would eventually be together.
