Last Month
Easter Egg Hunt
It might have lasted
more than just one
minute, but the eggs
did go quickly! Within
10 minutes of lining
up for the event, our
hunters were already sitting down and swapping
candy with one another.
To spice things up this year, we added in a candy
drop. When most of the eggs had been found, Mr.
Hurst and Ms. Jennifer ran through the mats tossing
extra treats into the air.Guest Night
1st Friday each month!
Share TKD with your
friends, & family. Invite
them onto the mats with
us to have some fun!

Sa JangTAE GEUK 4 — JIN/Thunder
The fourth poomse is represented by thunder, which is one of the
most powerful forces of nature. This form is a major step forward
for the Taekwondoist, as he/she moves from beginner to
intermediate status, and it must be performed with grace and power.
Because the techniques are now much more technically
challenging, mastery of Tae Geuk Sa Jang demands both courage
and perseverance from the practitioner.

Meet Your Instructors
Ms. Gaby — certified 2nd Dan Black Belt.
“I joined TKD in 2007. Before my first class I was
terrified, and after I was exhausted!! As my ability to
participate increased (without feeling like passing
out), I fell more and more in love with TKD; and with the
discipline, strength, coordination, and general
ability to defend myself. I also realized how good it was
for my health (minus the bruises) and my self-perception. Not many people my age get to do what I do.
I also found the support and care of the TKD family which was a huge unexpected bonus of joining Silva
Martial Arts. I really enjoy working with my classmates and watching the progress made. It is very exciting!"
Gaby now proudly holds her black belt in TKD as well as a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. She likes to joke: “I
still cannot catch or throw a dodge ball... but I make great cookies!”

What is the Korean name for sparring?
May TipRemember that stripes are like a checklist for you and your instructor. They signal that you can show your techniques correctly.
This month we are focusing on the forms stripe, and we will test for it during the last week of May.
Keep working hard in class, and make sure you are practicing at home! For extra help, ask your parents to look up a video for your form online. That way you can practice along with it, and work on memorization outside of class too.
