Pentecost

This Sunday we celebrate the

outpouring of the Holy Spirit on

the first disciples on Pentecost.

The Holy Spirit gives us faith in

Jesus, communicates the fruit of

Christ’s finished work to us, calls

us together in the church,

enlightens us with His gifts and

reveals the Father’s heart to us.

The Spirit is alive and active to-

day. We pray that He would work

within us and our church.

Congratulations!

Last Saturday, Linda Degner re-

ceived her Master of Arts in Coun-

seling degree from Ottawa Univer-

sity. May the Lord fill her with His

wisdom and grace as she ministers

to those who need His healing.

CLC Vacation Bible School has a

new format for this year. It will

be held on Friday, June 3 from

6pm—8:30 pm. and Saturday,

June 4 from 9am –11:30am.

There will be a final celebration

on Sunday, June 5 at 8:30am dur-

ing worship. Online registration is

now available to sign your chil-

dren up for this weekend of learn-

ing and sharing. To register go to

our website at ChristLutheran-

Blair.org / Education / VBS 2016.

Volunteers~come to the planning

meeting on Sat., May 14 at

9:30am. Remember to sign up or

volunteer and/or bring needed

items.

Missional Identity

Missional is not an activity. It’s

an identity! You are God’s

woman, man or child. As Chris-

tians, we are not people who

“do ministry.” We are ministers.

We are not people who “do mis-

sion.” We are missionaries. As

we live out our identity as mis-

sionaries, we will start to see

our everyday activities as op-

portunities to be witnesses for

Christ. Be Jesus to the world.

Ready, set, go!

Missional Idea

Invite someone to go with you

to the Decision America event.

May 18th, noon, Lincoln. It will

be a powerful testimony to Jesus

Christ as our Savior and Lord.

You will have the chance to

speak about the Gospel message

to be shared with your compan-

ion.

Tuesday - Apologetics - World-

view

On Tuesday night, we will discuss

Biblical Covenant and the 7 Moun-

tains of Cultural Influence. The

Christian, Biblical worldview is

not the dominant worldview in

America. How do you share your

faith with someone who sees the

world very differently than you?

How do you equip your kids and

grandkids to be unashamed of Je-

sus? Come on Tuesday night as we

join in an interactive discussion

and Bible study. 7:00 p.m.

National Day of Prayer -

Thank you to those who set up

the NDP in Deerfield ~ Al &

Ruth Bilau and Curt & Vicki

Barr. The 2-hour event was

blessed with the Word of God,

fervent prayer, worship and

praise and prayer walking the

stations on our property. We

welcomed four guests, in addi-

tion to the Lord who was very

present among us.

New Study begins on May 22nd

Our next study will be Focus on

the Family’s That the World May

Know - Volume 4 - The Early

Church, hosted by Ray Vander

Laan. In the midst of pagan self-

indulgence, Jesus challenged His

disciples to deny themselves and

follow Him. Christians today must

also have the courage to boldly

live out Jesus’ message in a pagan

society. Cost is $8.00 for the study

guide. Books will be available on

Sunday.

Local Missions Focus

About 25 people met on Mon-

day to discuss our church’s lo-

cal mission focus. Living the

Word and Sharing the Savior

was affirmed as our missional

goal. Celebrating all the good

outreach we are now doing,

keeping an outreach posture at

CLC, streamlining our structure,

sharing the message of Jesus in

all we do, appointing someone

as a local missions coordinator,

and adopting two local mission

emphases were all discussed.

The outreach work of the Evan-

gelism & Social Ministry, Chris-

tian Education and Benevolence

Committees was all affirmed

and celebrated. Dropping a few

unachievable ministry targets

identified at our last retreat

was suggested. Avoiding burn-

out was also stressed. Many

ideas were shared. EC will fol-

low up. More will be shared on

June 12th.

THANK YOU

Hello from Gainesville, Florida! I

just wanted to say a big "thank

you" to you all at Christ in Blair for

being so faithful and generous in

your support of me as a congrega-

tion; your financial investment

over the past few years has pro-

duced the dividends of spiritual

growth on campus at the Univer-

sity of Florida. When I share the

Gospel, you're there with me;

when I help a girl understand the

concept of grace one-on-one, you

get credit; and when students

graduate and follow Jesus for a

lifetime because of their years in-

volved with the Navigators, you're

a big part of that. So THANK YOU

Christ Lutheran for continuing to

invest in what God is doing

through me at UF!
