Sunday’s Focus
Racism - it’s an insidious evil.
Think it doesn’t apply to you
living in eastern Nebraska or
western Iowa? Take another
look. What can Christians do to
address this sin within our
hearts and our culture? Why
does it matter? Did you know
that God is colorblind? Are we
able to be the same?

ble, copies are available at our
table in the foyer of the church.
The Word has power! Share it
with a guest to our church or a
friend.
TeamMates Needed! We need your support! Team-Mates, a Dr. Tom and Nancy Os-borne program, need mentors to apply for the Fall 2017 Blair Community School year. Your one-to-one mentoring can make a positive difference in the life of a student. For more information and to apply online, go to www.teammates.org or contact [email protected].
Do You Need Personal Prayer?
If you would like someone to pray
with you privately and confiden-
tially, you may approach the front of
the sanctuary after our worship.

begin on Sunday, August 27, at
10:15 a.m. This class is for chil-
dren whose parents believe they
are ready to receive this sacra-
ment. A parent or grandparent
is expected to attend with their
child. The class may not meet on
Labor Day weekend. Contact

our city and region. He calls us to

time to share it! Dr. Keith will

ideas. Please send him an email:
Ministry Center
Christ Lutheran Church has been
invited to become the spiritual
heartbeat of the faith-based Frank
and Jane Krejci Learning and Life
Community. We unanimously af-
firmed conducting discovery for
occupying the Dana Library! May
we walk into our future in com-
plete unity.

sion for Christ (LCMC). This year’s
gathering will be in Minneapolis,
MN. If you plan to attend, register

House of Prayer on Tuesday
“Prayer does not change God, but
it changes him who prays.” -
Kierkegaard. Are you ready to be
changed? Pray. 6:00 p.m., Tues-
day, at Hillside. Be there.
Cleansing Stream
A new Cleansing Stream Seminar
began on August 19th, 10:00 a.m.,
at Hillside Christian Church. This
DVD-based teaching of the Word
is a great way to grow in disciple-
ship. Call Tim Fischer at 402-699-
5286 for more information.
Jesus Follower Quotes
“Followership is an identity. Fol-
lowership is a relational posture of
love and trust. Being a follower is
less about showing how much you
know than showing humble grati-
tude for how much there is to be
known.” - Leonard Sweet
“Christ does not ask of His follow-
ers great success or great fame or
great distinction. Christ expects of
His followers what He expected of
Himself: simply ‘to do the will of
Him Who sent Me.’” - Leonard
Sweet
Women’s Retreat
The Women of the Word (Heartland
District) will hold their annual re-
treat, Saturday, September 30, at
First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church,
Hastings, NE. The theme is “It’s All
About Relationships!” You are in-
vited. Contact Joyce Boslau
([email protected]) to register
or for more information.
Tuesday Night Study
Please join us on Tuesday night
as we continue our study of
spiritual gifts. 7:00 p.m. at HCC.
Open Door Mission - 8.31.17
Join us for worship at the Open
Door Mission in Omaha, Thurs-
day, August 31, 7:30 p.m. This is
a great way to share the love of
Christ with others. If you are
able to serve dinner to the resi-
dents and guests of the ODM
that night, plan to arrive at 4:30
p.m.

For marriages and families in
crisis.
For single parents and their chil-
dren.
For children and youth to be pro-
tected from suicidal ideation,
bullying and abuse.
For those with addictions and
eating disorders.
Missional Identity
Missional is not an activity. It’s an
identity! You are God’s woman,
man, or child. As Christians, we
are not people who “do ministry.”
We are ministers. We are not
people who “do mission.” We are
missionaries. Look for opportu-
nities to be witnesses for Christ.
Be Jesus to the world. Go!
Answered Prayers
Thank the Lord for the following:
For Mary Camden being dis-
charged to go home.
For God’s favor on Christ Lutheran
Church to be the spiritual core of
the Krejci Learning and Life Com-
munity! We have been offered oc-
cupancy on two floors of the Li-
brary.
Missional Idea
Buy someone lunch. If you are
dining out, driving through, or
carrying out, bless someone by
purchasing their lunch. In the res-
taurant, give a cross to the wait-
ress and to someone eating alone.
At the drive-through window,
leave cash and crosses for the
people in the car behind you. If
you are carrying out, pick up
some food for your neighbor.
Give them pocket crosses and
food. Love others in tangible
ways with the love of Jesus.
