Diego Costa provided the depth by pushing the CB’s high in the offensive 1/3. Postional occupation looked to be a tactical strategy, wide areas were occupied even when wing backs decide to make runs towards the centre of the pitch. IbrahimovicRemained high up on the pitch to give the depth and launch a quick counter attack. Chelsea play 1-3-4-3 , we still see Alonso and Moses occupying the wide areas to draw out the fullbacks and create gaps between the line of defense for penetrating passes\runs. Coming into the 2nd half with the 2-0 lead, Chelseas were defending low and were looking to attack on the counter. Man United play 1-4-4-2 . Moving Rashford up to play with Ibrahimovic as the dual strikers. Man United played with good possessionin through the central midfield . Detailed Info How Teams Defended: Man United in the 2nd half played a 1-4-4-2. Played a low defensive block and their 2 central midfielders ( Pogbs & Herrera )were not aggressive to will the ball, also were unbalanced which left gaps for Chelseas to pentrate forward which resulted for goal # 3 and #4. The fullbacks were being dragged wide which created gaps in the back line for chelsea to find space and receive balls behind the line. Centre Backs made several errors ( cummincation, postioning , press ) that translated to goals. Chelsea were an organized and compact block ( 1-3-4-3 ) Wing backs were well positioned and closing the space behind them in the wide areas. Mid unit were relatively compact in relation to the defensive line. Good leadership from Luiz as the Centre Back to keep team organized defensively. Cahill and Azpilicueta played displined by being in good position centrally in the defensive 1/3 .

Detailed Info How Teams Attacked: Man United looked to drive players quickly up in the offensive 1/3 . Man United look to play aerial crosses in the penalty area as well as making penetrating passes. Look to take advantage of Ibrahimovic Height and physical capabilities . Chelsea Have Moses and Alonso play in the wide areas to try and stretch the line of defense to create gaps for penetrating runs and passes. In the offensive 1/3 postional oppucation in the wide areas is always established. When Moses or Alonso drive centrally with or without the ball, Usually Pedro or Hazard will make runs to the wide areas.
