About the Adaptation:

The story of Mary Poppins is indeed a unique one. Anyone who has read the books, watched the 1964 movie, the 2004 Broadway adaptation, or the 2013 movie hit Saving Mr. Banks, would agree that there are things that have been added, deleted, changed or misinterpreted. However, I think this adaptation is in fact none of those things. My storyline follows the same story line of the Broadway hit, seen in a different light. When given the chance to further explore the world of Mary Poppins while acting in this production, I often thought to myself how terrifying the actions and games that Mary Poppins plays with the children are. For example, no one in their sane mind would bring a doll to life to abuse children into treating them nicely. For my adaptation, I have taken the story of Mary Poppins coming to the Banks household, and tried seeing each situation in a different light. I have to warn the reader though, that everything that follows this introduction is quite dark, and puts a whole new twist on the idea of the loveable Mary Poppins. The key to creating a darker and more unique story of Mary Poppins, I wanted to take into account of the world events going on at the time. Of course, the story is said to take place all in 1910 (in the 1964 movie adaptation). Considering that there are eight books, and there are many season changes, and aging of twins suggested in the books, I felt it was only appropriate to have the world events affect our already dysfunctional Banks family. While writing a rough draft of this fanfiction, I had many ideas that did not work with one another, and therefore have in fact created three different stories. You will notice while reading these stories that each novella has a completely different layout. For example, the second story is written as a case study with each chapter as a new interview with its respective character. In comparison to the third novella which specifically is through the eyes and mindset of Mary Poppins.Ive never written a fanfiction story before, but I thoroughly enjoyed recreating the world thought up by P.L. Travers, and I hope you will too.Enjoy.

Title: Mary PoppinsTitle: Case Study C4TL-19-567Debrief:The day is April 16th. As I walk into work, I am handed a large stack of folders: The top on, labeled C4TL-19-567. The Banks family case I thought to myself. The day has finally come, the day where I was finally asked to sit down with the six people associated with the Banks household, listen to their respective stories, and diagnose each of them accordingly. What happens to them afterwards, no longer lies in my power. Mr. George Banks:The first person brought into the room was a man named George Banks. He said he was in his early forties, however the gray wisps emerging from his scalp and the swallowed and defeated look he wore, suggested otherwise. I watched for a while as he held his coffee, his eyes grey and dead. He took one long sip, sighed heavily, and finally looked at me.Alright, he said softly. I think Im ready.I reached over and pressed the record button on my machine. Case Study C4TL-19-567. This is Officer Ay, joined by Mr. George Banks, father of the household. Whenever you are ready Mr. Banks, you may begin. Please provide as much detail as possible, and try to explain the events as close to chronological order as possible.Mr. Banks nodded. His glazed over gaze shifted from the tape recorder, to his cup of coffee. Mrs. Winifred BanksMr. Michael BanksMrs. Jane BanksMrs. Mary PoppinsBertOfficer Robertson Ay:There was one folder unnamed left in my pile. I knew without even looking at the questions inside, that this final folder belonged to me, Robertson Ay. I stared at the blank folder, and hit the record button one final time. Case Study C4TL-19-567, this is Officer Robertson Ay, to address the Banks Case from my undercover work.
