• The term “Inland Marine” was introduced to the insurance industry in the 1920s.
• A “Nation-Wide Marine Definition” was created in the 1930s, revised in 1953, and again in 1976 to include EDP and Builders’ Risk policies.
• Marine Policies are the most traditionally worded policies in the insurance industry.
• Century Insurance was founded in 1978 to issue coal mine reclamation bonds.
• In 2008, ProCentury Corporation, the parent company of the Century Insurance Group, merged with Meadowbrook Insurance Group, Inc.
