Animal Coverage

Animal Coverage • Intent

Covers animals for death or destruction only, due to a covered peril. Disease is not covered.

• Application IMS-APP-2, Commercial Inland Marine Application.

• Deductible Not applicable.

• Inspection Photo required of each animal at inception, any additions to the policy and every third year.

• Limits $10,000 maximum any one animal; $150,000 maximum per schedule. Contact your underwriter for higher limits.

• Underwriting Considerations Depending on type of animals, questions and concerns will vary. Underwriting Animal Mortality policies requires an evaluation of the physical elements involved and the degree of care owners or management exerts to maintain and protect the animals. Most animals are at a fixed location and are subject to common fixed location causes of loss. Various methods are used to keep the animals safe. The methods employed include the use of heat and water and therefore the animals are subject to loss by fire and water. Because animals are subject to accident, injury, illness or disease, the potential for loss should be evaluated based on the species or breed of animal. Furthermore, certain animals may not be insurable once they reach a certain age. Consequently, the primary underwriting considerations in issuing Animal Mortality policies are: ▪ Evaluation of the location and transit exposure
