TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Author, Web Contributor, Claretian Publication, Quezon City, Philippines, October 2012 to
present
Freelance Art Teacher, The Art Workshop, Quezon City, Philippines, 2012 to Present
Main Teacher, Manila Waldorf School, San Mateo, Rizal Province, Philippines, 2007 to 2012.
Mentoring lower school children from class one to four, gave me the experience observing the
developmental milestone of a child. Waldorf pedagogy encourage to educate each Child, nurturing
and deeply respecting all his complex and changing nature. Waldorf Education is an alternative way
of learning.
Main Teachers handle all academic and artistic subjects. All subjects are delivered in an artistic and
creative way through storytelling, painting, role playing, music and movement. We follow the set
curriculum based on the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner. Finding the suitable learning material for the
class is challenging and fun. We follow the school routine and rhythm in all our classes. Subjects
taught include Foreign Language, Nature studies, Math, Painting.
Language teaching is more than ability to conduct class and deliver the lesson. I traveled a lot since
my childhood and caught a number of foreign languages along the way. It made teaching a second
language easy and exciting. My innermost exposure several languages enhanced teaching. Every
language carry a certain culture, history or philosophy with it. Creating an outer picture of the
language is even more significant when we realize that children’s ability to imitate extends beyond
mere words and understanding is beyond speech, parts of speech and grammar.
Working as Waldorf teacher was quite fulfilling, being an Artist myself teaching different classic
forms of artistic expression such as poetry, painting, singing, dancing, acting, playing the recorder,
lyre and violin, sculptural modelling also gave an avenue for my creativity as well Collaborative
teaching.
Violin Teacher, Manila Waldorf School, San Mateo, Rizal Province, Philippines, 2008 to 2011,
In Waldorf methodology, the basic principle is to encourage sense perception through feeling and
active experience in the children. The sense impression absorbed is superior to placing emphasis on
precise scientific understanding of theoretical concepts during the first three years in the lower
school. Understanding is spontaneous and emotional. In the first three years of children appreciate
gestures more than words. Intuitive learning. As a Violin teacher, based on this principle created
and implement developmentally-appropriate lesson plans that addressed the specific Musical
experience needed by the child. Incorporating music and art into lesson planning and classroom
activities best reflects and suits the character of the class without compromising the individuality of
each child.

Writing is something that fascinates the mind and triggers the pen. I can spend hours sitting quietly
while my imagination soars in distant worlds. Writing is a about children is a favourite topic of mine.
I started helping in Adoption centers before I graduated in college giving me a rich source of topics
to write about. I gained much experience in handling children doing volunteer work. I also handled
Children with special needs. It was a great opportunity to write and share my thoughts and ideas
College Professor, Humanities, Concordia College, Paco, Manila City, Philippines,

Clinical Instructor, Fundamentals of Nursing Practice 2, Bugando Consultant Hospital,
Mwanza, Tanzania, 1996
Using English and Swahili in teaching Nursing Concepts challenged flexibility and creativity.
Innovation in teaching strategies and techniques are necessary in disseminating knowledge of
subject matter. Teaching also means effectively making our lessons simple that is best grasped by the
students. it is being able to link thoughts and ideas.
Piano Teacher, Yamaha School of Music, Buendia, Makati City, Philippines, January 1994 to
May 1995
Teach the basic piano playing skills and basic note recognition to small children. Teaching an
instrument such as Piano to children has given me the chance to explore lower school teaching as an
area of specialization in Music. My Journey as a piano teacher may have been brief but it has provided
me with the experience on being creative in handling music lessons with young children. Spending
more hours working with children showed me the varied developmental skills in music. Observing
these learning milestones, difficulties and other challenges to learning gave a broader and in-depth
venue to improve my people skill and sensitivity in handling children. It also showed me what factors
to consider when teaching music to children.
Clinical Instructor, San Juan De Dios Educational Foundation, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City,
Philippines, January 1992 to May 1994
My main duty is to facilitate students in both clinical and classroom areas. We orient students with
the specific nursing measures, action specific to each case we handled. We had to teach them the
importance of Nursing Care Plans. In class, we discuss the disease process and explore nursing
measures. The Clinical / Hospital areas where I worked were Intensive Care Unit, Special Needs
Children, and General ward. The subjects I taught; Nursing Research, Fundamentals of Nursing
practice and Developmental pediatrics. Team Teaching has provided Nursing teachers a chance to
explore different areas of specialization. Having spent more clinical hours in Adoption Centres where
children exhibit varied developmental retardation, speech problems and other socio-emotional
difficulties gave me a broader and in-depth experience and has improved my understanding and skill
in handling children with special needs.
Homeroom Class Adviser, San Juan De Dios Educational Foundation, Roxas Boulevard,
Pasay City, Philippines, January 1992 to May 1994
Establishing learning communities involves recognizing the individual capacities of every student.
Classroom experiences can become an effective venue to develop management skills. Effective
management involves harmonizing, balancing and directing people and resources. It is a technique
learned over time. Creating a dynamic class is harnessing the potential and the limitation of any
given group towards a particular goal.
Clinical Instructor, Colegio De Santa Isabel, Naga City, Philippines, June 1991 to October 1991,
ICU Nursing demands greater sensitivity and dedication to care. It developed in me a more calm
spirit when dealing with Code 9 situations. It also increased my awareness for preparing dying
patients and reverence for each moment death comes. It has given me a greater appreciation working
in special areas like the ICU, a profound respect for life.
Team Teaching has provided Nursing teachers a chance to explore different areas of specialization.
Team teaching is a wonderful way of developing collaborative way of teaching. It enhances teaching
and learning experiences. In clinical areas, students’ team and work together to explore significant
nursing problems and create a meaningful nursing measures. Cooperative learning is the main
feature of collaborative teaching. Students are individually accountable for their work, and the work
of the group is assessed as a whole. It supports and develop communication and interpersonal skills.
Teamwork develops the capacity to deal with conflict, share strengths and improve their weaker skills.
Team teaching provides a space for independence for their own learning, respect and sharing.
Teachers and students actively participate. Diversity is collectively celebrated and all contributions
are valued. I taught Fundamentals of Nursing Practice and Nursing Research, It strengthened my
knack for detail, sequence and order.
Homeroom Class Adviser, Colegio De Santa Isabel, Naga City, Philippines, June 1991 to
October 1991
Having a College Class to manage gave me the occasion to practice guidance and counselling.
Establishing positive and open communication among students is important in maintaining
harmony in the class. Identifying the tools for effective communication is important in mobilizing
people. Getting the work done is knowing what to say, how to say it and when to say it.
Nursing research is my forte and my favourite subject. I enjoyed teaching this subject. I was the
Thesis adviser of my graduating class. I went on Hospital Duty with my class handling Nursing
Management. I went on duty on different public and private hospitals. We visited Community health
centers. Orienting me with the different community health projects. This kind of exposure gave me
a wider venue to practice leadership and management skills. It also hone my capacity to recognize
my students individually allowing me to handle them efficiently and effectively for a short period but
intensive frame of time.

SCHOLASTIC WRITING
As a Nurse, Between Clinical work and Nursing Education, I choose nursing education as my field of
specialization. In this connection, as an output for my Med-Surgical Nursing 1 and 2, I wrote 16 modules for
teaching Nursing. It was my main project for MS Nursing. The resource book contains the basic principles
of the Fundamentals in Nursing Practice and the physiology of a body system.
Foundation subjects must be given emphasis and clearly understood by students in the
undergraduate level; that students grasp and develop an appreciation of the normal processes of the body
systems, an awareness of and taking note of the balance in the body systems to function within the normal
range. Furthermore, that any deviation from the normal patterns gives rise to an imbalance. To better
understand the role of each organ in relation to the whole system; that the body is not a composite of separate
parts working independently rather the idea of interdependence yet distinct in certain ways. To see beyond
the given normal values and mechanism of the body is a basic understanding of how a whole works.
That as Nurses, there is difference between Care and Cure; it is in their understanding of the basic
principles of health and that their choices of nursing action can be drawn. It is in the understanding of these
processes and pathology that an appropriate Nursing Care plans is made. As nurses, our basic commitment
is Care.
For the Nursing Tutor, Its purpose was to provide a handy resource for a particular concept or body
system. A handy resource categorized by the System. It aims to emphasize the importance of grounding a
good knowledge of the Basic subjects.

BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE: PSYCHOLOGY
University: Ateneo De Naga University

Start Date: June 5 1989
End Date: March 27 1991
List main Subjects:
Having graduated BS Nursing, I completed BS Psychology in two years. Apart from Psychology
Major subjects, elective classes were in Philosophy, Literature and Art.
Philosophy Subjects:
o Metaphysics grade received A- 92
o Philosophy of Man grade received B+ 89
o Philosophical Foundation of Psychology grade received B+ 89
Man has ever been fascinated with behavior and has made assumptions on what motivates man into
thinking, feeling and willing. But for a certain discipline to emerge on its own; it has to be supported
by a body of knowledge that is concrete.
Philosophical Foundation refers to the Rational and Empirical foundation upon which the study of
human behavior has evolved. It is a survey of all the philosophical theories that formed the scientific
basis of psychology. It follows a Logical coherence from the time of Rene Descartes, Viktor Frankl,
Sigmund Freud, Carl Rogers and the rest.
o Christian Vocation grade received A 93 - 100
o Moral Theology grade received A 93 – 100
General Sciences, Literature and Sociology:
o General Biology grade received A- 92
o Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy and Physiology grade received A 93 – 100
o Genetics, Evolution and Diversity grade received B+ 89
o Earth Science grade received A - 92
o Humanities, Literature and History:
o Humanities Art Appreciation grade received A- 92
o English and American Literature grade received B+ 89
o Eastern Civilization grade received B+ 89
o Principles of Sociology with Bicol Culture grade received B+ 89
When we studied this subject, we focused mainly on the Culture of the Bicolanos. How it
evolved from Spanish influenced, to Americanized way of life up to the present time. We
learned about the social classes during the Spanish time and how different members of
society responded. We talked about the rules and how it was constructed by the ruling class.
And how all these lead to the collapse of the social organization. I learned to appreciate more
social changes and how it contributed to a new social awareness and a better group
consciousness.
Psychology Major Subjects:
o Culture and Personality grade received A 93 - 100
One of our subjects that is closely related to Anthropology. Culture and Personality
studies deals with cultural values, behavior, and tradition, as it impact the
development of personality. It determines the range and patterns of distinctive
character of a given group/ social class.
o General Psychology grade received A- 92
General Psychology gives an overview of psychology. It contains the basic principles
that serve as the foundation in the study of human development, habits and
behavior, feelings, drives and motivation, learning processes, perception, thinking,
intelligence and memory. It like an umbrella that hold altogether branches of or
discipline falling under this category.
o Developmental Psychology grade received A- 92
When I took Developmental psychology, it puts into perspective the significant
milestones in each life stage. I appreciated learning by blocks. I learned that skills
are achieved gradually, following a certain pattern. It also has a certain pace and a
normally accepted range. Learning is sequential. It is personal and independent and
varied by different factors.
This is an introduction to the study of Human growth and development from
infancy to adulthood. Topics under this category included motor and perceptual
development, language acquisition, and memory, social and emotional
development.
o Abnormal Psychology grade received A- 92
We studied and discussed the unusual patterns of behaviour, emotion and thought.
We looked into two types of behaviors: Adaptive and Maladaptive. It also opened
the idea of stress and coping mechanism. Our practicum in Psychiatric hospitals
provided the opportunity to observe maladaptive behaviors. Assessing and
identifying behaviors that are aberrant in the clinical context was a skill gained. I
learned to appreciate better the importance medical history as it identifies the
underlying causes for different mental conditions. A well written medical history
will unravel the development of the existing psychopathology. The study of
Abnormal psychology also has broadened my understanding of cultural diversity as
it influences the perception of what is Bizarre or deviant.
o Personality Theories grade received A- 92
In theories of Personality, Personality traits are categorized according to patterns of
behavior and thought. It explains different aspects of personality, personality
development, and the differences between theories. These personality theories were
proposed by different Psychologist. Some these theories are based on Traits,
Behavior, Personalities, while others are based on a Philosophy such as Humanistic
approach. These offered me a wider view of the Human being from different
perspective. This is an examination of the theoretical resources and basis which offer
an understanding of individual personality.
o Guidance and Counseling grade received A- 92
Guidance and counseling are two words that are symbiotic. At least to me, in
studying these, I learned the distinction between guiding and counseling. Guiding
is moving towards a particular goal and within a framework. It has a direction and
limited by time whereas counseling is catharsis.
o Independent Research grade received A- 92
We were asked to make our own studies. I wanted to research on gifted children but
the resources for observation within our city was not available. We had more
resources for the special needs children, children with learning disability and
mentally challenged. Instead, I continued reading about gifted children but pursued
my research on the Developmental skills of children in adoption centres.
Based on this subject, I learned to choose a topic that has social significance. I also
learned how to identify a particular need in a given community.
o History of Psychology grade received B+ 89
I learned how the study of Man’s behavior evolved from the ancient Greeks up to
the Present; its’ origins in Philosophy and Physiology, how it emerged as a separate
discipline and who are the significant persons who contributed to its development
as a separate study. This is a study of the different contributions in the history of
Psychology to better appreciate the present field.
o Social Psychology grade received B+ 89
What taking this subject has given me was an insight on how appreciate the very
fine difference between Sociology and Social Psychology. I understand that Social
Psychology deals with society just as psychology deals with the individual. Social
Psychology however, it tends to consider the periphery. Social psychology has
taught me focus on situational variables that influences social behavior; the
individual in a given context. Sociology and Social psychology is matter of
perspective. It is also a survey of the different topics in social psychology such as
conformity, attitude change, aggression and the interpersonal attraction.
o Experimental Psychology grade received B+ 89
While taking this subject, I was privileged to have been given the chance to
participate in an experimental project. The occasion has provided me with the
experience of observing and studying attitudes and behavior. I was able to observe
and learn more about Rape of Minors. I learned about courage and how a
community can help or support the Family and the roles within the family.
This subject takes a methodological approach. This involves a combination of
Principles of experimentation, statistics and the philosophy of science.
o Theories of Learning grade received B 86
Theories of learning are exciting and fun. During our studies, we get to discuss and
role play the different learning styles.
We were able to connect it as well to the different teaching styles. Theories of
learning like Personality theories are conceptual frameworks of how the human
being learns and absorbs information / knowledge. There are many different
approaches to learning. Learning is influenced by a number of factors such as age,
gender, motivation and drive, intelligence, social status. These can still be further
grouped as emotional, cognitive or environmental factors. Theories of learning
explore the capacity of an individual to learn and absorb knowledge.

( Special Needs Children, abandoned children )
This subjects deals with the application of skills and learning’s acquired after taking
majority of the Psychology subjects.
Developmental Psychology is a special topic of interest. The Missionaries of Charity
was an ideal venue to interact with different children. I was able to observe, assess,
identify and compare the developmental skills. I also participated in their daily
routine which has provided me an insight about their gross and fine motor skills.
During my stay I was able to experience what I have read in book about behaviors,
habits, nutrition, sleeping and play. It has helped me better understand growing
children. It was a worthwhile experience to be able to see the dynamics of children
in an adoption centre.
