From the President’s DeskTime flew.What remains are memories.Of all the memories of the year-some good some very bad, but whatremains uppermost in the category of happy memories -is the team effort after HUD HUD. Words can neverdescribe fully the destruction caused to our lovely city and more so to our club but we did not falter or losehope.The resolve was steely,the steps were firm and the determination was strong. Services were not stoppedfor a day and our aim was to ensure that the slogan-home away from home was not just a slogan.To those whowere not aware of what transpired behind the scenes - as an example, the Hon secretary used his contacts to getyou meat from Srikakulam/Elamanchili and diesel from Anakapalle,to ensure that services were never stoppedfor a day. The entire team worked day and night to ensure a quick return to normalcy and I am proud to say thatwe did restore normalcy as quickly as possible.HUD HUd taught me the truth or the meaning of the words,leadingfrom the front. Finding proper axes and a machine cutter took up a whole day and I had to use all my contacts to get them for the club. Afterthat they were put to good use and the physical efforts of the Honorary Secretary Giri and Raghunandan in those few days in clearing thedebris was really laudatory.I also learnt the art of using a machine saw too. It's an art and it's not mere strength you need to use the machinesaw.We learnt a few more lessons in conservation,waste control and in environmental protection which I am sure will stand us in good steadover the years.The greenery of the club has improved and in a few years you will see the greenery restored to its past glory.Please be patientand remind every committee that follows that the greenery of the club must be preserved and improved.The club staff who worked tirelesslyalso deserve a special mention.While their homes were destroyed they were in the club helping us restore normalcy.For all of the staff - a bigjai ho. The other area of focus was the food. Here also the Hon Secretary did a good job and he was ably assisted by the Treasurer who asyou know is an hotelier by profession.The improvement in the quality of food was widely appreciated and there was some criticism too butthen they were genuine comments which helped us improve. Financial discipline also improved well and it needs to improve further.The needof the hour is greater usage of the club and consequently greater revenues.As the year went quickly by I will say this much-we did try to do more.Some efforts were successful, some failed,some received kudos, somereceived brick bats but I can say this much- we tried to do something,we were not idle and if we earned the praise of a genuine few -that itselfis enough for us -for what are we but servants of this great institution and temporary trustees for a year.This is the last but one message -so as they say -see you soon and for one last time next month.

Craft Workshop:Ladies committee organizeda summer craft workshop forchildren on 14th May. Craftteacher Mr. Venkatramana,taught the children how tomake paper gift bags, giftboxes and plastic birdfeeders.A total of 30 childrenattended the workshop andenjoyed making these craftitems.

ELECTIONS 2015-16Election for the Managing Committee for the year2015-16 will be held on 28th June and 29th June 2015.The AGM will be held on 29th June 2015 at 6.30 p.m.

All the members are requested to attend and exercise theirfranchise. Please be aware that all of us are Joint StakeHolders in our Club and a large turnout will ensure thatthe healthy democratic tradition of our club is still aliveand is growing.

The year has passed very quickly and we will be completing our tenure by end of this month. It has been a verychallenging and successful year for the entire committee and even more challenging to me as the Hony Secretary.I had to cater my entire time for the welfare of the Club. I concentrated hard in putting the things right in thekitchen activity, which has resulted to service of good quality food and has yielded encouraging response fromthe members. Most importantly, I have continuosly monitored the club activities by motivating and encouragingthe kitchen staff and ensured that the same is sustained throughout the year. I also recognized the need toencourage more members to use the club and consequently generate more revenues. The food prices werereduced by 15% and the liquor prices were also reduced, which led to increased usage. The confidence gainedin the catering led us to host the biggest event of the year - NEW YEAR 2015 by ourselves with our own catering.We not only could save a lot of money but could reduce the prices to a great extent and ensured that themembers had a great time at a reasonable price.

Post HudHud cyclone, when the whole city was devastated and everything was closed, our team ensured that the club is kept open duringthis difficult period and ours is the only club which has been in operation, even during darkness. All those members who were affected by thecyclone have fully utilized the club facilities and this effort has yielded fruitful results, which has been appreciated by many members. Theefforts put in cutting the fallen trees and clearing the debris within short time was well appreciated and our vision in developing the green beltwill be seen shortly. The restoration works of the damaged buildings were taken up and completed despite many hurdles. I have alsoensured financial discipline and at present the club is in a good position financially. Disciplinary matters were also taken up and the ruleswere strictly enforced.

Overall, I feel that I did my job with self satisfaction and proved that this club can generate more income if handled honestly and we canshow reasonably surplus income this year, when compared to the previous years.
