SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL

Each year Mainstreet SA recognise exceptional mainstreet communities whose successes serve as a model for comprehensive district vitality, revitalisation, business development, active involvement and economic impact. The!Awards will be open to business associations, trader groups, Councils and!event organisers across South Australia, including country and regional towns and mainstreets.

The Awards acknowledge the great work!being done and recognise the importance of mainstreets and their role in!our local communities.

Mainstreets in the City, suburbs and country regions across South Australia are eligible to enter the Awards to recognise their hard work and outcomes.

Entry will be available online and in hard copy format for consideration by the judges. Winning an award could be very beneficial for groups seeking additional grants and funding to support successful programs.

ABOUT MAINSTREET SAMainstreet SA is a not for profit organisation that was formed after a very successful National Conference staged in Adelaide in 2011.

A proactive team of volunteers built on the success of the 2011 Conference that attracted mainstreet managers, Councils, business owners and trader associations from across Australia and overseas.

Mainstreet SA promotes our mainstreets as the beating heart of our communities through networking, education, awards and strategic support for stakeholders including many small businesses, communities and the public sector.

1. OUTSTANDING PARTNERSHIPS So much more can be achieved when effective partnerships are formed. The award acknowledges the work of businesses working with Council and the community to improve the vitality and energy of local mainstreets.

2. IMPROVING THE BUSINESS MIXA proactive approach to business mix development can inject vitality and vibrancy into a street or town centre. The!award recognises the work of property owners, Council, economic development agencies and the business community to improve the range and variety of the business mix to meet the needs of the community and look towards the future.

3. PUBLIC REALM/ URBAN DESIGNMainstreet design and development work presents many challenges to stakeholders. Capital works can improve the public realm and streetscape for the benefit of visitors, customers and businesses. Councils play a key role in harnessing and promoting the design elements and streetscape vitality to deliver successful and exciting mainstreets.

4. SUSTAINABLE MAINSTREETPlanning and implementing environmental strategies can deliver benefits for stakeholders. Embracing the latest advances in environmental strategies including renew, recycle and reuse can provide a more sustainable future to reduce business costs and provide benefits for the community.

5. MAINSTREET MARKETINGMarketing and promoting mainstreets to the community and beyond requires a combination of media planning, advertising, website and customer engagement which benefit the businesses, Council and all partners. Marketing efforts small or large will be measured and recognised with consideration of budget size and creativity.

6. MAINSTREET EVENTSMainstreets and town centres deliver exciting events, festivals, street parties and community activities including farmer’s markets that provide benefits for the businesses, sponsors and the community. This award captures the cooperative work and effort to deliver small and large events and promotions.

7. OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONOften there are community and business leaders or Council managers supporting and energising the mainstreet community. This award recognises the hard work by an individual to promote, support and lead local mainstreet programs and activity for the benefit of all. The person provides their knowledge, talents and skills throughout the year, often with minimal resources.

8. BEST REGIONAL/COUNTRY MAINSTREETThis award will recognise the efforts of stakeholders that work together in small towns and regional centres to improve their mainstreets for the benefit of locals and visitors. We expect a lot of interest in this category.

9. PEOPLE’S CHOICE The People’s Choice Award will ask the communities around South Australia about their mainstreet and will highlight incredible loyalty and support for the heart of the community. Using social media we will be seeking the public vote for the best of the best.

10. OUTSTANDING BUSINESS IN!A MAINSTREET This award recognises outstanding contributions by a retail shop/service toward the revitalisation of a neighbourhood and precinct. Using social media and trader groups throughout SA, we will be seeking the public to vote for the most outstanding contribution.

11. BEST STUDENT MAINSTREET!PROJECT This award recognises the best project submitted to South Australian universities on best practices in our mainstreets. This award recognises visions for our future mainstreets.

Sponsorship is available as the naming rights sponsor ie. ‘Mainstreet!SA 2013 Awards brought to you by The Wallabies’, or you can become a category award sponsor and the category will be named after your company ie. ‘The Wallabies’ Excellence in Marketing Award.

FRIDAY 18 OCTOBER AT THE OBSERVATORY
