NOMINATIONS January 4-February 4, 2019 Nominations are accepted online. Teachers who are nominated are notified by Educate Maine and can “opt in or opt out” of the selection process. FinalInterviewsTentativeDate:September30,2019(afterschoolsitevisitscomplete)StateFinalistsareinterviewedbyagroupconsistingofmembersoftheStateReviewPanel,theTeacheroftheYearprogramcoordinator,legacyTeachersoftheYear,andtheCommissionerofEducation.AconsensusapproachtoscoringwillbeusedtorankordertheStateFinalists.

Thenumericalratings/scoringfromtheportfolioessayresponses,interviewsandschoolsitevisitswillbecombined.Thisinformationwillbeusedtoinformthediscussionandfinalselection.TheStateReviewPanelwillputforthonecandidatetotheCommissionerofEducationtobenamedthe2020MaineTeacheroftheYear.
