It is great to be back into the swing of things again. Visiting the classrooms this week I have seen well rested children who are engaged in a new term of learning. The Core Value we are focusing on this term is Cooperation. I have already seen many examples of our students cooperating with their peers and teachers. This is encouraging as we head into a busy term. Great work everyone. Keep it up! ‘Go Live’ LMBR Our new school student management and finance system will ‘go live’ on Monday 17 October. Our office staff will be busy setting up the new system in the days that follow. We thank you for your patience as we transition to this new system. Once the new system is fully operational we anticipate it will streamline many of our current practices. In the near future the school will also have EFTPOS facilities. Student Spotlight We would like to wish Summer, Olivia E., Flynn and Ava all the best as they perform in the Engadine Musical Society’s production of Oliver beginning October 21. We are very proud of these talented students who have the confidence and ability to perform in front of large audiences at such a young age. Well done! Information about how to obtain tickets is attached to the newsletter. Congratulations to Layla who has progressed to the Network Public Speaking Final. She delivered her prepared speech with confidence at Illawong Public School late last term and convinced the audience that all Kindergarten students should have a buddy. Welcome back to Term 4! Keep it up!

Kindergarten OrientationWe are looking forward to Kindergarten Orientation mornings in the coming weeks. Sessions will be held on Thursday 3 November and Thursday 10 November. Information regarding these sessions was sent to families who have already enrolled for 2017. We are still accepting in area Kindergarten enrolments. If you are aware of anyone who has not enrolled for next year they should make contact with our school office as soon as possible. Mrs S. Stolk Relieving Principal

Philippines and Fiji Book AppealIt is that time of the year again when we ask our Heathcote community to look at those books which are no longer used and know they would be treasured by children who do not have access to a rich source of reading material. We have expanded the book program to several other remote and very poorly resourced schools in the Philippines and also to Fiji. The last horrific cyclone ruined many classroom readers. Please spare the time to cull knowing that every book will be valued. May we please ask for only early reading books to Year 6 readers? The aim of the program is for pre-school and primary aged students to be supplied with readers, therefore reference books, text books or teacher resources are not required. Please drop the books off at the office over the next few weeks and they will be sorted, packaged and shipped by the end of November. Thank you for your continued support of this very valued program. The smile on the children’s faces, and the teachers, make it all very worthwhile.

President’s Report Term 4, where has the year gone? I hope that you have all come back after the break feeling recharged and proud of yourselves after the epic amount of events that we had last term.

This term should be a lot quieter on the P&C front and I can hear you all saying "thank goodness for that". This is the term the children get to do so much fun stuff and I look forward to getting to see a lot of it. Kindy orientations are just around the corner as well and we will probably need a little help with serving tea and coffee but I will ask for that help a little closer to the time. I want to take this opportunity to also thank Emma Stokes and Aly Cole for jumping in with the uniform shop this year. They have done an excellent job taking over what was Danielle’s and my "baby". I can't thank you enough and I am so proud and happy with the way both of you have handled taking it over. It is a massive job to take on. It requires so much of your spare time and all for no pay. HOOSH Welcome back to all families for Term 4!! The year has gone so quickly I can only imagine just how fast this term will go with all the exciting things we have in store! With the abundance of arts and craft with all things Halloween and Christmas along with other wonderful creations I am sure all families will enjoy as much as I do. All existing families should have completed their re-enrolment forms for 2017 and received notification of their child's placement. We have received a number of new enrolments for Kindergarten 2017 and new families to the service and will be in touch with them shortly regarding placements or waiting lists depending on the days requested. We do try our very best to accommodate all families’ needs and we appreciate your understanding as we can only hold a certain amount of placements in the current HOOSH room. On another note, Tara Cronin left the service on the last day of Term 3 and she is still waiting patiently for her little bundle of joy to arrive, but we are very excited to welcome Sharon Fishburn who has been appointed to Assistant Co-ordinator. Sharon has been working for the service for a while now as a casual employee so this was a lovely smooth transition for the service and the children. The next HOOSH meeting will be held on Tuesday 1 November 2016, 6.00pm in the HOOSH room (one hour before the P&C meeting). In this meeting we will be discussing our application to the department on a new home for HOOSH (something much bigger to address the growing need for placements at HOOSH and accommodate the children's and families’ needs), along with a financial outlook for the coming years if the application is approved. We always welcome new faces and ideas so please if you have time come along. If you require urgent casual placements or if your child is sick on a day they are to attend the service, please contact Alana on 0437 001 753 or email [email protected]. Thanks and kind regards
