Signed  2012  London    Paralympics  Singlet

 Kelly  Cartwright  OAM

Signed  2012  London  Paralympics  Singlet  by  Kelly  Cartwright  OAM  (Mackay  Sony    Camp  Patron)  +  $100  framing  voucher  at  TJ  Picture  Framers

Biography

The  story  of  Kelly’s  life  is  best  described  as  triumph  over  adversity.  At  the  tender  age  of  15,  after  being  diagnosed  with  a  rare  and  aggressive  form  of  cancer  in  her  right  knee,  she  was  forced  to  make  a  decision  that  would  change  the  direction  of  her  life.  In  November  2004,  faced  with  the  option  of  amputation  or  radical  surgery  to  remove  the  cancer  (doctors  told  her  she  would  most  likely  still  have  cancer  after  surgery),  Kelly  chose  amputation  for  her  best  chance  of  survival.

After  a  painstaking  3  months  of  rehabilitation  she  was  fitted  with  a  prosthetic  leg.  Having  learnt  to  walk  again,  and  facing  the  reality  that  her  netball  career  was  over,  she  looked  for  a  new  direction.  That  direction  was  running.

With  a  growing  passion  for  running,  Kelly’s  training  intensified  in  pursuit  of  her  latest  goal  –  to  be  the  best  above-‐knee  amputee  100m  sprinter  in  the  world.  Adding  to  her  fast-‐growing  list  of  achievements  Kelly  became  the  first  above-‐knee  amputee  woman  to  climb  to  the  summit  of  Mt  Kilimanjaro  in  2009.

2012  was  by  far  Kelly’s  biggest  year.  Drawing  on  all  her  training,  she  rose  to  the  top  in  Long  Jump,  setting  a  new  world  record;  claimed  the  gold  medal;  and  ran  a  personal  best  in  the  100m  to  claim  silver  in  London.

Bell  Shakespeare's  HAMLET    Family  Pass

Family  Pass  to  see  Bell  Shakespeare's  HAMLET

Date:  7  September  Time:  7.30pm  Venue:  MECC

Dark  acts  result  in  darker  consequences.  And  there  is  little  that’s  darker  and  more  complicated  than  the  act  of  revenge.

A  family  torn  apart  by  murder,  a  son  burdened  with  the  truth  and  the  task  of  avenging  his  father,  and  a  country  on  the  brink  of  war.

Anguish,  passion  and  desperation  collide  in  this  tragic  telling  of  Hamlet,  the  Prince  of  Denmark  who  is  tormented  by  the  impossibility  of  his  dilemma,  and  who  remains  one  of  theatre’s  most  fascinating  characters.

Damien  Ryan,  returning  to  Bell  Shakespeare  following  the  critically  acclaimed  Henry  V  in  2014,  will  deliver  a  new  production  of  Hamlet,  infused  with  the  passion,  contemplation  and  emotion  that  Shakespeare’s  compelling  poetry  cries  out  for.  Josh  McConville  (Griffin  Theatre  Company’s  The  Boys  and  Sydney  Theatre  Company’s  Mojo)  and  Matilda  Ridgway  (Sport  For  Jove’s  A  Doll’s  House)  will  delve  into  the  depths  of  the  complexity,  violence,  philosophical  reflection,  madness  and  maddening  seduction  of  Hamlet.
