Some ideas are fractions, graphs, geometry , decimals. The trick is to think of a 3D way to demonstrate the math concept. Try dividing a tiny pizza into fractions, or divide it into a pie graph. Show 6 ways to draw equivalent fractions using a cube to display each way. Or, make bars marked as fractions to compare fraction amounts or show equivalency. No Spelling Words Reading: Read 20 minutes/get signature   Reading Log will be checked. YOU DO NOT NEED TO UPDATE YOUR WIKI GOAL THIS WEEK. The dreaded moment has arrived! We are starting to write a research paper. Everyone has been assigned a California mission to write about. All students will be assigned partners to work with throughout this process. Hooray!  All the mission research paper information is posted on our classroom website. Please take time to review the information together before signing and returning the conrmation slip.  IMPORTANT/DUE FRIDAY :  We have some preliminary steps to accomplish this week. (The only actual writing this week will be done in class. We will be writing the introduction and conclusion together, and this will not impact homework. Whew!)  1. Please bring a one inch binder and a set of dividers to school (7 or more). We will be organizing it together in class.  2. Bring 2 mission information books to school. You can check books out from the Lincoln Library or the Cupertino Library etc. You can also purchase books of course.  3. Bring one printed mission resource from the internet - make sure it has lots of information.  4. Bring the Research Paper Conrmation slip. 5. It's also a good idea to print out some information such as the Timeline, Suzie Q's step by step samples, writing tips and information.   Stone Fox Book Club We are transitioning to a Book Club format as we read our next literature book. This involves students choosing friends for book club groups who will meet  together to discuss the “under the ocean” ideas in the book. In order to be prepared for book club meetings, students must come ready to join the discussion. This means 1) read the “chunk” of the book that will be discussed, 2) write one post-it for each chapter that marks an important part of the chapter, and 3) ll out the “Before We Met” part of the Book Club Thinking sheet. This involves 2 to 4 sentences - it is about quality vs. quantity. Make sure you are ready to meet on Tuesday morning . (The chapters are VERY short!)

    pyramids. Demonstrate mixed numbers as

    improper fractions. Do a survey and make a 3D bar

    graph. Make arrays showing composites vs.primes. We will be writing our Showcase sentence

    in class as usual.
