Challenges in the 21st Century
90 percent of business acknowledge at least 1 data security
event in the last year; frequency is greatly understated
We live in a “Bring Your Own Device” (“BYOD”) world
112 smartphones are lost or stolen every minute – that’s 57
million data security incidents per year in the United States
Add in lost or stolen lap tops, flash drives, etc.
Add in malicious insiders, criminal and government
sponsored hackers (reconnaissance and disruption), and
critical infrastructure attacks
The issue is not if, but when and how often

OneDrive for Business Hybrid
If you use SharePoint Server 2013 and want to take advantage of cloud storage
for your users' business documents, you can set up OneDrive for Business in
Office 365 and have your users automatically redirected to Office 365 when they
click the OneDrive link in SharePoint Server 2013.
By using Office 365 for document storage, you can take advantage of cloud
storage without having to migrate all of your workloads to Office 365.
Setting up OneDrive for Business hybrid requires configuring Office 365 if you
haven't already, and configuring OneDrive for Business redirection.
For information about planning OneDrive for Business hybrid, see Redirect users
to Office 365 with OneDrive for Business: scenario overview.

Office 365 Import Service
Ship a hard drive or upload data to Office 365 via Azure.
Faster than direct upload into Office 365.
Useful for .PST migration and for upload into SharePoint
Might simplify user-directed uploads
OneDrive for Business Update
Next Gen Sync Client Preview available Sep-30
Next Gen Sync Client Generally Available Q4 2015
The New Web UX for OneDrive includes these features Company-Shareable Links: provides a sharing link for every document that can be opened by any
internal user who receives that link, without those users having to be manually added via an explicit
share action. Users are not added to the Access Control List (ACL) until they access the file for the first
time.
Set an expiry date for a guest share: We’ll introduce the ability to set expiration dates for external
guest links
Modern attachments for Outlook: In OWA. Outlook 2016 desktop client when it ships in September.
Other features being rolled out or in new client An admin can set the amount of quota that a user can utilize. Being rolled out now.
Coming out In Q3/Q4 2015, admin will be able to set allow and deny lists for external sharing domains.
Archiving all external sharing emails (sent via bcc:) into a folder. Q3 2015.
With new client, increase number of files to 20,000 and increase individual file size to 10GB.
OneDrive for Business Update
Already present features in the service Feature to limit sync client to a whitelist of domain names. Managed via powershell.
No longer provision "Shared with Everyone" folder for new tenants and users. Admins can enable this
if desired. Also have a way to remove Everyone, Everyone except external users, and All Users from
the people picker in the file sharing dialog. Details here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-
us/library/fp161390.aspx
Encryption Each file in OD4B and in SharePoint is secured using per file encryption.
In Q1 2016, Customer Lockbox will be available. This provides for customer approval before Microsoft
datacenter administrators are provided passwords for content.
Auditing We are currently in Preview for Office 365 Auditing & Reporting capabilities.
Availability for Office 365 Auditing & Reporting is scheduled for Q4 2015, before the end of the year.
An alternative today is the Office 365 Management Activity API preview. This allows customers to
export the audit feed to their own databases and build customs reports.

Bad news
Google Drive, Box, DropBox, and others are ahead of Microsoft.
[New] OneDrive for Business compatibility issues with a standalone Office 2013
or Office 2016 application (like Visio, Project, Skype for Business, or OneDrive
for Business). Huh?
In Review
OneDrive for Business is a first and best cloud workload.
Architect and plan for OneDrive for Business integration and migration as a first
step towards a cloud strategy for or customers
OD4B will be the Enterprise tool for informal collaboration that best integrates
with Office and the Microsoft ecosystem.
OD4B is the best tool for hybrid scenarios where we leverage on-prem
(SP2013/2016) and online (Office365).
OD4B just released in Sept 30, 2015 with many fixes and features that continue
to make it an excellent tool.
OneDrive for Business (OD4B) is maturing as a tool but its behind the major
players.
If you want something fixed or new features in OD4B, send to:
SharePoint Server: http://sharepoint.uservoice.com
Office365: http://office365.uservoice.com
Learn to use OD4B, and you’ll love it too.
