Approaching the unknown...

This original load sheet image appears to show 10 of 14 pallet spaces taken up with 2 deliveries stacked (under 20kg). In total 11 deliveries. Although unclear in this image the freight takes up 90% of the space.

Here comes the priorities...

Placing the priority deliveries on the load plan improves the detail of what needs to get done and when.

Don’t forget the collections...

Adding the collections gives a better picture. This shows the number of pallets and total weight of each collection. Adding collections = 13 pallets + 3 x small pallets = 14 pallets (approx 100% full by end of day).

With the full picture looking like...

The last addition is the closing times of the collections. This all adds up to...11 deliveries + 6 collections = 17 stops consisting of 8 time constraints plus 2 ‘must do’ High profiles...

...Your due to leave the yard at 8:18am. Time to route it....

When you know the time youleave the yard all times cascadeforward.

e.g: When you complete job number 3 five minutes earlier [09:04] it changes job number 19 too [16:43 to 16:38]

“This is mobile live route planning”

Well that was easy...

Starting at 3 (left home=1, left dhl=2), did you come up with the same? Why not. This is optimised for all job completion and all on time. There is no other way. But look at the original routing/loading pattern? (bottom to top)

VOSA/Driving Agency Fine...

Why are they red? Because when I deliver these items I’m leaving a hole that I can’t get to with a pump truck. I’m breaking the law. So how important is it to route correctly??

Page 11: Live Route Planner

It’s only there to keep me company!...

A different and correct live load plan on my steering wheel - It only has 4 deliveries which is why it was easy to route...and very rare! {This paper load plan is only a secondary safeguard to my BYOD going wrong}.

Communication...“pass it on!”...

Communication between the Router, Loader, Driver & Operator has always been a challenge.
