The Lord God spoke against those who buy the poor for money.
Response to the Psalm:
Praise the Lord who lifts up the poor.
Second Reading: Timothy 2: 1 - 8 Let prayers be offered to God for everyone, he wants all people to be saved.
Gospel Acclamation:
Alleluia, alleluia! Jesus Christ was rich but he became poor,
to make you rich out of his poverty.
Gospel: Luke 16: 1 - 13. You cannot be slaves both of God and of money.

‘Most of us who work, have jobs, are responsible to some higher authority. What if the Reign of God became as important to us as our jobs? We would become much more deliberate and intentional about discerning what might be God's will for us in specific situations. God is our ultimate higher authority. As Eugene Kennedy recently wrote, God, through Jesus, invites us, not, to popular "soft spirituality," but rather to discipleship. True discipleship can be tough and demanding. We are called to lives of self-sacrificial love, mercy, compassion, forgiveness, reconciliation, charity and justice. We have an authority, higher than our bosses, that we need to attend to - to conform to - and that is God.’

Justice and Peace Gathering for Parishioners This event will launch the theme of the Australian Bishops’ Social
Justice Statement for 2013-2014 which focuses on global poverty and
calls on Australia to renew its commitment to achieving the Millennium
Development Goals in the spirit of Christ’s mission on earth. This
gathering will take place on Saturday 19 October at St Patrick’s
Summer Hill at 10.00 am. Lunch provided please RSVP by 10 October
