times (4- 3th cent. BC.)

Black pottery is known from ancient times; it was used in the Roman Empire, Thrace and other countries. The Romans called the black pottery “terra nigra“ (black earth)

Lithuania is one of the few corners of the world where the black ceramics has

been saved

In 1999 Black Ceramics Centre became a member of the International Academy of Ceramics. In 2000 it was awarded with the name of the National UNESCO Ceramic Centre
