How they met......Adrian was working on a farm in Achterveld, Holland. In the area where Willy was living.

The two met during church activities. After working on a farm Ad would go into theDutch Airforce. He would return to visit friends on the weekends. While Ad was gone,he and Willy would exchanged letters. On May 8, 1955, while on a bike ride Ad askedWilly to go steady. It was Adrian's intention to immigrate to New Zeeland but Wiilly'sfamily was going to this USA and he was in love. He changed his mind and moved to the

    States.Wednesday, January 15, 14

On December 24, 1955 Adrian would propose to Willy. Just two dayslater, Ad would leave for the USA. The following April, Willy and her family

would leave for the United States.Willy was determined to have Ad nearby so she found him a job. Hebecame a jack hammer specialist. Five days a week and eight hours a day hewould operate the jackhammer. On weekends he would milk cows on theWilgenburg dairy. Two weeks after arriving in United States, Adrian and Joop would receive atelegraph telling them of their father's passing. It was a sad time for thebrothers because they couldn't afford to go back for the funeral. The deathof Ad's father changed things things for Adrian and Willy too. Instead of

saving for their own wedding and marriage, they were providing for his Momand siblings too. It took another 2 years before they were able to getmarried.
