Feeding the 5,000 is Just Around the CornerCalvary Assembly in Carlsbad has made feeding the community an important part of their vision as a church.

Hello New Mexico! I am really excited today to introduce you to my new friend Link! For some time now we’ve been brainstorming about an identity for our District News and have now settled on Link.
Across the state of New Mexico, in the lives of our churches and ministers, there are stories to be told, ministries to be celebrated, events to be promoted, and things to be shared and Link is the venue to do just this. We are a fellowship of churches, small and large, rural and city, who together make up this New Mexico District. Our desire in all we do is to Link us together so that none of us attempt to minister in isolation and that we all benefit from one another.
In this issue of Link, you’ll read about some really neat things happening in the youth ministry in Tucumcari, a feeding ministry in Carlsbad, a pastor installation in Dulce and many other things. You’ll see the information and promotions on major events like District Council, as well as Women’s, Men’s and Student Ministries events on the horizon.
I really hope that you’ll find this issue of Link to be information, enjoyable and inspirational on your ministry journey. It is our joy and privilege to serve you and the New Mexico
District and look forward to staying connected with you in this way. So, when you see that Link has arrived, whether via the internet or by mail, be sure to check it out; Link is sure looking forward to staying in touch with you!
Be blessed!

How many pounds of groceries could you fit in a church? Don’t think small here, think big...
That is exactly what Calvary Assembly did in Carlsbad, NM. Last April, they began a feeding ministry by distributing 2,500 pounds of food a month to the community. As you would suspect, free food draws people-a lot of people! The church does food distributions twice a month and just this past month, January 2011, they distributed 20,000 pounds of food! This feeds approximately 350 households in the community. When asked if they were going to continue this ministry, Pastor Philip Price said, “Of course! Part of the vision is to make sure it is not temporary.”
For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’
