  • Kizhakkancherry grama

    panchayth was formed in the

    year of 1951 and is the fourth

    largest grama panchayath in

    Kerala. It covers an area of

    112.56 km2 and comprises 22

    wards. Gram panchayath

    kudumbashree cds was formed

    in 1998.

    GENERAL ACTIVITIES

    Micro Finance

    There are 5400 families in 360 NHGs within the panchayath. Already Rs.

    20 Crores has been distributed to all those beneficiaries via linkage loan.

    100 NHGs had been benefitted by the 2-crore loan received from Kerala

    State Backward Development Corporation thus could start various micro-finance

    ventures.

    Muttathe Mulla Loan Scheme

    A total of Rs. 3,91,50,500 had been distributed to 1050 families throughout

    20 wards within panchayath

    Vulnerability Reduction Fund (VRF)

    One Lakh rupees each was distributed to ADS of 6 wards during 2017-18

    and 2018-19 financial year in order to improve the basic and essential necessities

    within families.

  • Community Enterprise Fund (CEF)

    During 2017-18, 2018-19 an amount of 10 lakhs each was received as CEF

    from kudumbashree and till date its been rotated among beneficiaries by charging

    a minimal 4% interest thus helping each families during their financial crisis.

    Micro Enterprises

    An achievement of Kizhakkancherry CDS was identifying those women

    who were financially backward and bringing them to limelight after giving

    necessary training to start various Micro Enterprises.

    Given tailoring and fashion designing training to 60 beneficiaries for one-

    month for preparation of cloth bags, paper bags and various garments for women.

    As a result, started 10 new ventures. 14 Lakhs was invested for the same by

    panchayath. Various ventures like Cloth bag manufacturing unit, paper bag

    manufacturing unit, tailoring groups, canteen, beautician centre etc.

    Santhwanam scheme

    This particular scheme was implemented during 2019-20 financial year in order

    to extend helping hands to Bedridden patients and to diagnose patients with

    lifestyle diseases. 50,000 was given as loan for this. CDS also started a

    Laboratory named “Karunya Laboratory” for this purpose and is functioning

    smoothly.

    Prathyasha scheme

    Prathyasha scheme was implemented in order to free elderly people from

    their solitude by giving training to self-employ them and to find a source of

    income along with it. Kizhakkancherry CDS was first to implement this scheme

    within the district.

    Out of 105 elderly NHGs 60 people was selected and were given self-

    employment training. Manufacturing of Phenoil, Agarbathis, pappad, Bathing

  • Soap etc were successfully done under this scheme. An amount of Rs. 5200 were

    awarded to 35 such NHGs as grant from Kudumbashree for their efforts.

    Kudumbashree women in House Construction Field

    Kizhakkancherry CDS Construction team could become a part in Kerala

    Government’s “LIFE MISSION” by taking part in the House construction

    activities within the panchayath and also gave training to several beneficiaries.

    Through their hardwork and dedication they could gain several contracts in the

    same field. Kudumbashree chairperson is very pleased to be able to take over the

    construction work of “LIFE” houses in the panchayat by starting a construction

    group as a women’s movement in the field of construction.

  • ARISE

    As part of Post flood Rebuild Kerala Initiative 20 youngsters were given

    plumbing and electrical training, also various NHG members were given training

    for transplantation during paddy cultivation, cleaning of houses and locality and

    harvesting techniques in various fields thus actively involved in all activities

    within panchayath during those crisis situations

    Athijeevanam Keraliyam Project

    As a part of the “Athijeevanam keraliyam” project, the trainees of ARISE project

    have been able to find and create more employment opportunities.

    Kizhakkancherry CDS has taken up the “connect to work” training program for

    job seekers in the Alathur block and has prepared furniture, sound systems and

    laptops worth Rs.2,10,000 for the training program conducting by ASAP.

    BUDS School

    Physically and mentally challenged kids should be given better opportunities to

    display their skills and worth in order to be par with other kids. This realization

    and the need to uplift them led to BUDS School.

    During 2019-20 Buds was able to start a special school for physically and

    mentally challenged children and was able to start a project by providing training

    through the pratyasha project with the aim of welfare of the elderly.

  • As of now 29 students got registered and gets benefitted by good

    educational as well as cultural and behavioral lessons given to them. There has

    been an immense all-round development in all those students.

    Harithakarmma Sena

    Harithakarmma Sena got implemented to make kizhakkancherry

    panchayath free of plastic. 31 kudumbashree women were given training and are

    enthrusted to collect plastic waste from each home within the panchayath. They

    are also involved in educating the public of its detrimental effects.

    They are involved in various plastic boycotting activities like giving steel

    plates, steel glasses etc for rent, cloth as well as paper bag manufacturing and

    organic manure making. Various other environment friendly activities are in

    pipeline.

    Agathirahitha Keralam

    The government has already announced that the COVID pandemic is going

    to affect the elderly people above 60 years of age. The CDS has conducted a

    survey to find elderly people in the community and a resource person was

    designated to call them and enquire their health status. They were provided food

    items and medicines with the help of Asha workers and CDS members.

  • In 2018-19, there were 350 beneficiaries (350 beneficiaries, 250 were

    under general category, 100 under SC category) under Agathirahitha Kerala

    Programme. They were provided with Rs. 12,50,792 for distribution of food kits

    and medicines.

    In 2018-19 and 2019-20 an amount of Rs. 14 lakhs were approved for

    construction of houses. In 2017-18, Rs.12 lakhs were approved for the

    construction of four houses under panchayath fund.

    Joint Liability Groups

    There are 35 groups undertaking agriculture under Kizhakkanchery CDS.

    In order to encourage organic farming, the beneficiaries under Kizhakkanchery

    CDS are provided with agriculture orientation classes and they are distributed

    with seeds. A bank loan of Rs. 90 Lakhs was provided for joint farming.

    Subhiksha Kerala Project

    Kudumbashree has been able to implement a package of 10 grow bags, seedlings

    and organic manure for 3200 families in 22 wards of the panchayath through the

    panchayath project as part of the Subiksha Kerala Project. 4 kudumbashree units

    are cultivating vegetables in 6 acres of waste land. The number of organic farming

    groups has also been increased.

    Animal Husbandry

    The Kudumbashree beneficiaries from Kizhakkancherry CDS are mostly

    engaged into Cattle rearing and goat farming. In 2018-19 and 2019-20, 6 groups

    were given Rs. 3 Lakhs in subsidy category under Panchayath fund. In the year

    2019- 20, 7 groups were provided with Rs. 6,40,000/- each from Vijaya bank for

    cattle rearing.

  • DDYGKY

    DDUGKY is a programme envisaged by Kudumabhsree to provide employment

    opportunities to youth between 18 to 35 years. During the last three years, 90

    youths were provided with training and employment opportunities under this

    programme.

    Gender Resource Centre

    One of the 28 gender resource persons in the district under Kudumbashree

    will visit the centre two days a week for honorarium. The resource person called

    community counselling educator will intervene in grassroot-level issues affecting

    women and children. Ward-level classes are planned to create awareness of this

    service.

    Five to 10 members of the “Jagratha samithi” (vigilance committees) will

    be roped in to inform the resource person of any problems faced by women

    CDS completed second phases of training in Gender Self Learning Programme

    which is a participatory education programme through which women in

    Neighbourhood Groups (NHGs) address gender and its manifestations in their

    lived experiences.

    The CDS is planning to provide ‘Connect to work’ groups in order to

    provide career guidance to members under Kizhakanchery CDS. This platform

    will provide guidance on how to face an interview, tips to improve

    communication etc.

    Balasabha

    There are 50 Balasabha groups with 750 children in Kizhakkanchery CDS.

    During 2017-18, Rs 25000 were provided for conducting Volleyball coaching

    camp, study tour, campaigns etc.

  • Balasabha children were also engaged in farming. During 2018-19 an

    amount of Rs 62000 were sanctioned under planning fund and the same is utilized

    for pencil campaign, conducting science fair etc.

    Balasabha children are provided with their own saving accounts and they

    used the amount for their educational purposes during the times of school

    opening. In Kizhakancherry CDS, “Balasabha Meet” and “Bala Parliament” is

    conducted every year.

    Cultural Achievements

    The members under Kizhakancherry CDS achieved major cultural

    acheivements. During 2019-20 State Arts festival, they won second prize for skit.

    This award was the most memorable moment for all the members in

    Kizhakancherry CDS.

  • EFFORTS DURING COVID/FLOOD

    To protect people from covid 19 pandemic, PRADEEKSHA cotton bag

    manufacturing unit has made 8500 mask and supplied to all wards in the

    panchyath. Gloves and sanitizers provided to the members of HARITHA

    KARMASENA in co-operation with banks sponsorships.

    Community Kitchen & Janakeeya Hotel

    In the background of covid 19 outbreak, under Hunger free programme

    with the help of Grama panchayath, 240 families were given free food for 2 times

    a day, from march 29 to may 3 migrant workers and quarantined patients under

    panchayath’s control were given free food through COMMUNITY KITCHEN.

    After May 3, JANAKEEYA HOTEL were opened through which meals

    were provided for 20 rupees which was a great help to common people.

    Covid Loan – Intrestless Loan

    As part of the CM’s helping hand scheme, more than 4000 families in 300

    neighbourhoods have been able to get help of Rs. 2 cores through the COVID

    loan bank.

    Laptop Through Vidyasree Project

    Kudumbashree was able to open an account for the purchase of laptops for

    450 children through KSFE chitty to help the students study during the COVID

    times.
