ObjectiveScore the most points by forming words from the tiles drawn, either horizontally or vertically.

Game BoardThe Letter UP game board is made up of 15x15 square grid.

Tile ValuesThere are 102 tiles, each having different point values.

Game PlayStarting a game: At least one tile of the first player’s word must be placed at the center of the board (either horizontally or vertically).

Game PlaySwapping Tiles : Players may exchange tiles until there are no more tiles left. Exchanging tiles will forfeit their turn leaving them with no score for that round.

Game PlayPassing Turn: Players are allowed to pass their turn. However, the game ends when all of the players passed.

Game PlayThe game ends when:̵ All the tiles have been drawn and one of the players had used every

letter in his/her tile rack.̵ When all of the players passed for two consecutive times.

ScoringMultipliers: These are shells that double or triple the value of the letters or words when placed on them. These are only used once.

Doubles the score of the first word.

Doubles the value of the letter.

Triples the value of the letter.

Triples the word score.

Doubles the word score.

ScoringFirst Word Score: One letter of the first word must be placed on the shell at the center. This doubles the score of the first word, but not the subsequent word.

ScoringPremium Letter Shell: This shell doubles or triples the score of the letters placed on it.

ScoringPremium Word Shell: The score for an entire word is doubled or tripled when one of its letters is placed on these shells.

ScoringMultiple Words: When a player creates multiple words in one turn, the scores for each new word are added to the player’s score.

ScoringBonus Points: Get additional 45 points if a player is able to use all seven tiles in one move.

ScoringUnused Letters: When the game ends, each player's score is reduced by the sum of the values of his/her unused letters.

ScoringFinal Score: When one of the players has used all of his/her tiles, the values of the other players’ unused letters are added to that player’s score.

DictionaryLetter UP currently uses TWL (Tournament Word List) dictionary. We are planning to include SOWPODS (Official Scrabble Players Dictionary + Official Scrabble Words) and ENABLE (Enhanced North American Benchmark Lexicon) in the future. These are available to the public.

Acceptable WordsProper nouns or capitalized words, hyphenated words, words with apostrophe, acronyms or abbreviations and foreign words are NOT allowed.
