Lesson Formative Evaluation

Formative Evaluation Planning WorksheetLesson Objective: perform a need analysis.

Who What When HowExperts Will have the experts review the lesson on

three characteristics:1. Content.2. Technical accuracy.3. Quality of instruction.

Expert review will be conducted at least 1-2 weeks prior to instructional implementation of lesson.

Several sources of information will be used: informal group discussion, expert survey and questionnaire

Learners: one-on-one

The learners will be selected based on their grade level and past band experience. Basically, they will evaluate the lesson content. They will speak to the compatability of the lesson with their previous gained knowledge.

One-to-one learner review will occur at least one week prior to actual instructional implementation of lesson

An interview by the designer will sit with each learner as they go through the lesson to see they progress.

Learners: small group

The small group (5-7) of learners. They will be evaluating the "learnability" of the lesson.

The small group will occur after one-on-one will occur and after develop initial lesson. At least 3-4 days prior to actual instructional implementation of lesson.

Will used per and post assessments to gather information from small group.

Learners: field test

The learners in the field test will be using the lesson after it is completed. They are evaluating general characteristics of the lesson in terms of its "learnability" and "applicability" in terms of their current knowledge-base and level of instructional comfortability.

The field test will occur after the design of the instruction is complete. This is the final step of formative evaluation prior to implementation of instruction.

The evaluation eg, assessment will take place in the actual setting where the lesson will be used.
