REC PLEX & FAMILY CENTER EVENTSThe Spy Dash for Kids!Saturday, August 15 | 10:30 a.m. | Pavilion Playground Join the Recreation staff for a super sprint Spy Dash for kids ages 5-10. Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Pavilion Playground. We will be utilizing the Rec Path and our young competitors will be running .25 miles on the path. All participants will receive participation ribbons. Top 3 finishers will receive awards in each age division. Snacks and refreshments will be offered to participants at the end of the race. We will be running three age divisions (5-6 year olds), (7-8 year olds), & (9-10 year olds). There will also be a mini race for children under 4 after the races. Children should come prepared to run with tennis shoes and athletic clothes. DIY Bubble SnakesSaturday, August 15 | 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. | Rec Plex The Recreation staff will be showing you how to make your very own bubble snake! We ask that each participant bring their own plastic disposable water bottle and we will have the rest of the supplies to make fun, colorful bubbles! Please do not pile your garbage, construction or demolition debris in the easements. These piles will not be picked up by the garbage hauler or Maintenance staff. Please remember, this is for Property Owners only. You will be required to check in at the site and show your Property Owner Pass. Items allowed at the drop-off include many items that are not allowed in the general refuse dumpsters throughout property. Items accepted include:Appliances (white goods): Refrigerators, freezers, ranges, water heaters, air conditioners, humidifiers, etc.Electronic Equipment: Computers, monitors, TV’s, printers,

stereos, phones, etc.Propane Tanks: 20 pound cylinders onlyFurniture: Please limit to one or two pieces. September 5-7 Labor Day Weekend will bring about our final summer events of the season. The Rec Staff is planning “Back to School Bingo” this weekend. Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 6, when we host our second to last Open Market. Make sure you stop and see the variety of holiday gift ideas and decorations that will be on exhibit. Our entertainment for the weekend includes a Teen DJ Dance, Abby Normal playing our favorite tunes, and the tantalizing effects of Brass Bullit. Make sure you plan a relaxing visit to Woodhaven Lakes before school is back in session!
