scusso a lungo prima di uscire, ma qui ogni volta è

diverso, inaspettato. Può essere magico, dispettoso,

molte volte teso. Ma è sempre un bel vento. Sono

stanco, non mi sento più le braccia, devo ricaricar-

mi. Domani è un’altra sfida. E tu mi chiedi com’era

talked a lot about this before we went out, but

every time it is different, with surprises in store. It

may be magical, impertinent, mischievous, impetu-

ous, or even gusty, and very often fresh. But it is

always a grand wind. I ’m tired, my arms have gone

sti della Villa Romana nota come “Grotte di Catullo”.

L’edificio privato di carattere signorile, pìù grandioso

di tutta l’Italia settentrionale. A Gargnano il grandio-

so “Palazzo Bettoni”, progettato alla fine del XVIII

secolo; una delle più belle ville del lago. Famoso il

suo Giardino d’Agrumi. Il “Vittoriale degli Italiani” è

la Cittadella monumentale che Gabriele d’Annunzio

allestì e abitò negli anni 30 a Gardone Riviera.

Three examples of 2000 years of history. In Sirmio-

ne, the remains of the Roman Villa known as the

“Grotte di Catullo”. This is the best example of a pri-

vate noble residence in the whole of northern Italy.

In Gargnano the great “Bettoni Palace”, designed

at the end of the 18th century, one of the most

beautiful villas around the Lake. Famous for its

Citrus Garden. The “Vittoriale degli Italiani” is the

monumental citadel at Gardone Riviera created by

Gabriele d ’Annunzio, who lived there in the 1930s.

Pesciolini di lago sulla graticola o altri, più cono-

sciuti, cucinati in mille maniere; l’olio del Garda,

buono con tutto. Grandi vini. ortaggi, formaggi

d’alpeggio, salumi, castagne, miele e tartufi, fun-

ghi, ma anche polenta, tortellini, pasta fatta in

casa. E, su tutto, il profumo indimenticabile di

cedri e limoni.

Tiny barbecued lake fish, or other better-known

fish, cooked in a thousand different ways. Garda

olive oil goes well with everything. White, red and

rosé wines. Vegetables, Alpine cheeses, fresh and

matured cured meats, chestnuts, honey, black and

white truffles, mushrooms and asparagus. But also

polenta, tortellini, homemade pasta. All accom-

panied by the unforgettable aroma of lemons and

citron.

Lake Garda in the Trentino region is a “corner” of

Mediterranean in the foothills of the Alps. It is the

lake which, warming up in the summer sun and

giving off its heat in the winter, softens the tem-

perature range, contributing to the creation of an

exceptional microclimate. Riva del Garda, Arco,

Nago – Torbole, Dro, Drena and Tenno are the

places dotting the territory of Garda Trentino.

am Fuß der Alpen. Es ist der See, der sich im Som-

1“Riviera degli olivi”, cinquanta chilometri di insena-

ture, rive, borghi e castelli. Nella parte settentriona-

le, il Monte Baldo offre, dalla cima, uno spettacolo

meraviglioso. Da Malcesine, si scende verso Casso-

ne, Brenzone con le frazioni di Assenza, Porto, Mar-

niga e Castelletto; poi Torri del Benaco con il Ca-

stello Scaligero, fino a Punta San Vigilio, con la Baia

delle Sirene. E poi Garda e la sua famosa Rocca.

The “Olive Riviera”, the eastern shores of the lake:

fifty kilometres of wonderful landscape, a succes-

sion of coves and banks, villages and castles. And on

the northern tip, Mount Baldo dominates the lake.

From the centre of Malcesine, going south you come

to the small villages of Cassone and Brenzone. And

further south again Torri del Benaco with its Scal-

igero Castle. The lake widens at Punta San Vigilio,

where the view at Mermaids’ Villa and Mermaids’

Bay is absolutely magical. And then on to Garda,

dominated by its famous fort.

degli Olivi“ (Olivenriviera). 50 Kilometer herrliche

und ungeheuer abwechslungsreiche Landschaft:

see. Weiter südlich trifft man auf liebliche Dörfer

bucht eine unvergleichlich schöne Landzunge ist.

Ancora verso sud, si incontrano Bardolino e Lazise.

Per i più piccoli, ma non solo, i parchi divertimen-

to Canevaworld e Gardaland, prima di Peschiera.

Nell’entroterra, Valeggio sul Mincio, con il Castel-

lo Scaligero costruito nel X secolo, il Parco Giar-

dino Sigurtà, più di 50 ettari di giardino e il Parco

Acquatico Cavour.

Following the lake road, still further south, you

come to Bardolino, famous for the wine of the

same name, and Lazise with another Scaligero

castle. And for the children and young at heart,

the theme parks of Canevaworld and Gardaland.

The hinterland also offers some wonderful places,

including Valeggio sul Mincio, and its Scaligero

Castle dating back to the tenth century. Not far

from the centre, the Sigurtà Park Gardens covers

an area of more than 50 hectares at the foot of the

morainic hills, and the Cavour Water Fun Park.

Weiter südwärts den See entlang, gelangt man

nach Bardolino berühmt für seinen gleichnami-

gen Wein, sowie auf Lazise mit der Scaligerburg.

Kinder, aber auch jung gebliebene Erwachsene,

kommen in den Vergnügungsparks Canevaworld

und Gardaland auf ihre Kosten. Auch das Hinter-

land schenkt Ihnen Orte wie Valeggio sul Mincio

mit der Scaligerburg aus dem 10. Jahrhundert, den

herrlichen Gartenpark Sigurtà, der sich am Rande

der Moränenhügel über mehr als 50 Hektar er-

streckt, und den Wasserpark Cavour.

1Un itinerario emozionante: da Pozzolengo, verso

nord, sfiorando Sirmione e attraverso Desenzano,

verso la Valtenesi e borghi come Moniga e Soiano

del Lago, Manerba, San Felice del Benaco. Poi le

limonaie della Riviera dei Limoni e Salò, Gardone

Riviera, Toscolano Maderno, Gargnano, Tremosi-

ne, Limone sul Garda.

A picturesque itinerary, from Pozzolengo in the

southwest, travels northwards skirting Sirmione

and then through the Mediterranean vegetation of

Valtenesi and its characteristic villages of Moniga,

Soiano del Lago, Manerba, Polpenazze and San

Felice del Benaco. The hilly landscape ends with

the fascinating lemon groves of Riviera dei Limoni

and its lovely villages: Salò, Gardone Riviera, To-

scolano Maderno, Gargnano, Tignale, Tremosine

and Limone sul Garda.
