1. Simple forefinger operationUsed for some special applications thatrequire continuous oil flow, such as a brushcutter. The on/off button controlled by theforefinger reduces operator fatigue.

The factory-installed thumb bracketand relief valve significantly reducethe time needed to mount theoptional hydraulic thumb.

Adjustable maximum oil flow control forauxiliary port

The digital instrument panel lets you control the oil flowaccording to your needs or the attachment in use. It eliminatesthe hassle of using tools to change settings manually, so youdon’t have to leave the cabin. When using a tilt bucket, you canslow the flow to get just the rightcontrol to gently shape a swale.Alternatively, for a brush cutter,direct the oil flow to one side ofthe excavator arm. The systemwill even store your settings forthe next time you need it, savingtime and quickly regulating theflow requirements. Adjustableoil flow enhances performanceand saves fuel.

By widening the tumbler distance and track shoesto 5'1'' and 12'' respectively, stability is improved andground pressure reduced. The overall width still allows theexcavator to access narrow openings.

Variable displacement pumpsWith variable displacement pumps, both the oil flow andpressure are adjusted according to the workload. Thepumps even reduce the required engine horsepower forgreater fuel economy, and minimized vibration and noise.

Strong traction forceTo drive you through those softer ground conditions andkeep you working, traction force has been increased byalmost 30% over previous models.

ROPS/FOPS canopy and cabThe ROPS/FOPS canopy and cab provide completeprotection from accidental rollovers and falling objects.Both the ROPS and the FOPS meet the applicable, ISO,SAE, and OSHA standards to ensure an extra level ofsafety and security on the job.

Two-piece hose designThe two-piece hose connections for the dozer andboom cylinder hoses simplify hose replacement andreduce downtime.

Protected cylinder hosesThe bucket cylinder hoses are located inside the arm.And the boom cylinder hoses are routed under theboom bottom.

SafetySafety is designed into every detail of the KX71-3S. An EngineStart Lockout System prevents the engine from starting whenthe safety levers are lowered. A Safety Lever Lockout Systemhelps prevent unexpected excavator and attachment movementwhen entering or exiting the machine. An Auto House ParkingBrake automatically locks the house in the position it was inwhen the engine was shut off, eliminating the need for a swinglock pin. It also makes the excavator more compact duringtransport and more secure when parked on an incline.

AccumulatorThe accumulator makes replacing attachments safer and moreefficient. Turning the key to the “on” position clears residualpressure in the auxiliaryhydraulic hose. If the engineis accidentally shut off whilethe front attachment israised, turning the key to the“on” position allows you tosafely lower it.
