King Hall Outreach Program | 2018 Summer Session Application UC Davis School of Law is recognized for its leadership in diversifying the legal profession and is committed to educating lawyers who uphold the highest standards of professional excellence, ethics, public service, and social justice. The King Hall Outreach Program (KHOP) is a no-cost program serving high-achieving undergraduate students from underrepresented communities by preparing them for the law school admission process through workshops, presentations, critiqued writing assignments, and individual advising. Applicants to the 2018 KHOP Summer Session must satisfy the following criteria: 1. Currently attend, or have recently transferred to, a four-year college with one or two years before graduation OR have graduated from a four-year institution in 2017. 2. Be considered a first-generation college student (no parent or legal guardian has a bachelor’s degree) OR come from an economically underserved community or background defined as having a household income less than or equal to 200% of the federal poverty guidelines (https://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty-guidelines). 3. Have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher as calculated on a 4.33 scale. 1. KHOP Summer Session PDF Application Complete the attached KHOP Summer Session Application and submit it by email [email protected] along with your supporting documents in PDF format by Thursday, May 24, 2018.Please name your application file:Last Name-First-Name-Application.pdf

2. Personal StatementDraft and submit a personal statement of one to two double-spaced pages using twelve-point font and one-inch margins. The personal statement prompt is found on page six of the application. Please name your personal statement file: Last Name-First Name-Personal-Statement.pdf

3. RésuméWe require the submission of a résumé with your application. The résumé should be one page and list your relevant educational, extracurricular, and professional experience and accomplishments. Please name your resume file:Last Name-First Name-Resume.pdf

4. Letter of RecommendationAsk one professor or teacher to write a letter of recommendation that describes in detail your academic and personal qualifications and accomplishments. The letter of recommendation must be signed by your recommender and accompanied by a waiver form. If you, or your parent/guardian, did not file taxes in 2017, submit the 2016 return. If neither your parent/guardian nor you filed taxes in the past two years, submit a copy of your financial aid award letter from the most recent academic year. If neither your parent/guardian nor you have filed taxes in the last two years and you have not received financial aid in the past two years, submit a brief explanation of how you have paid for your college education.
