Rationale for chosen pathway - existing examples/client need.

• I chose the fine art pathway because I want to learn skills in painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture. Fine art is a very wide field, encompassing many forms — traditional, abstract, conceptual, figurative, non-figurative, representational, non- representational and expressive and I want to use these within my work. I want to study the works of fine artists and use this to inspire my work explore the use of visual communication language to describe the formal elements and creative skills that give visual form to your own thoughts, ideas and concepts, and those observed in the work of other artists and designers. I want to work with a variety of traditional and non-traditional media and materials and specialist fine art processes and techniques.

Proposal 1- SculptureMy first proposal is to create a sculpture based on my primary research at kilve, I want to include three different elements, stone, branches and leaves. I was fascinated with the variety of sources, such as textures, rock formations which gave me inspiration for example the layered rock formations on the beach.

I’m thinking of creating a totem pole design that would be placed in the gardens of Kilve Court.

Proposal 2 - " Print from sculpture "

For my second proposal I would produce a series of prints for Kilve Court to be placed in the canteen area as it had no paintings. I intend to make a small model from which I will work from and make numerous studies taking into account the shape and texture. The outcome will be a series of prints which feature a rustic quality which I feel will fit in with the centre. I want my model to look similar to an artefact found on kilve beach. I will explore working in a 3dimensional style and including my print within this. I could also print onto flatter models such as my sample piece.

Proposal 3 - “landscape painting"

My final proposal is to create a large scale painting. Or a series of smaller scale paintings. These could feature in a pop up gallery based in Minehead. My focus will be on colour but I also want to explore texture and shape. I will be making a lot of studies to help me decide on the final outcome.
