Dear Parents, Apologies for not producing a newsleer last week but there were so many acvies going on in school that I just didn’t have me to put pen to paper. As you can imagine the school gets very busy around Christmas me with lots of acvies, producons and normal everyday teaching going on. Last week, 5MW wrote to me to say that their whiteboard wasn’t working properly. We have been having a long running dispute with the makers of the board, Smart Technologies and the company that sold us the boards, Millennium Compung. Each one was blaming the other one to get the issue resolved. However, the children's leers of complaint spurred me further into acon and I am very glad to say that the board was changed for a new one on Thursday. Hopefully this one will be much more successful. It is a sign of the mes that computers and whiteboards are so much now the fab- ric of a school. When I first started teaching many many years ago, my only main teaching resource was a chalk board. Winter Fair 2016 On Saturday we had a very successful Christmas fair in the canteen. This was organised by Miss Poultney from the Junior School. There was face painng, tombola, various stalls and food including popcorn and candy floss which both sold out due to the high demand. And of course there was Fa- ther Christmas who was situated in his groo and saw lots and lots of children. He was of course the real Father Christmas and he had to take me out from his very busy schedule in the North Pole to come to our fair. . Lots of children thought that Miss Poultney had organised fake or plasc donkeys for the children to ride on and were very surprised when two real life donkeys appeared called Sam- son and Joseph. Mr Snowden from the infant school helped organise the line of waing children but I suspect that he spent most of me stroking the donkeys—I am not sure who was most excited, the children or Mr Snowden. Over £1100 was raised by the winter fair. The PTA are currently saving up for a really good sound system for the canteen which can then be shared by both schools and be used for future PTA events. Dear Parents,

Apologies for not producing a newsletter last week but there were so many activities going on in school that I just didn’t have time to put pen to paper. As you can imagine the school gets very busy around Christmas time with lots of activities, productions and normal everyday teaching going on.

Last week, 5MW wrote to me to say that their whiteboard wasn’t working properly. We have been having a long running dispute with the makers of the board, Smart Technologies and the company that sold us the boards, Millennium Computing. Each one was blaming the other one to get the issue resolved. However, the children's letters of complaint spurred me further into action and I am very glad to say that the board was changed for a new one on Thursday. Hopefully this one will be much more successful. It is a sign of the times that computers and whiteboards are so much now the fab-ric of a school. When I first started teaching many many years ago, my only main teaching resource was a chalk board.

Winter Fair 2016

On Saturday we had a very successful Christmas fair in the canteen. This was organised by Miss Poultney from the Junior School. There was face painting, tombola, various stalls and food including popcorn and candy floss which both sold out due to the high demand. And of course there was Fa-ther Christmas who was situated in his grotto and saw lots and lots of children. He was of course the real Father Christmas and he had to take time out from his very busy schedule in the North Pole to come to our fair. . Lots of children thought that Miss Poultney had organised fake or plastic donkeys for the children to ride on and were very surprised when two real life donkeys appeared called Sam-son and Joseph. Mr Snowden from the infant school helped organise the line of waiting children but I suspect that he spent most of time stroking the donkeys—I am not sure who was most excited, the children or Mr Snowden.

Over £1100 was raised by the winter fair. The PTA are currently saving up for a really good sound system for the canteen which can then be shared by both schools and be used for future PTA events.

A big thank you to all of the staff, the PTA and parents who helped on the day

Pictures of a Christmas World

Year 4 are practising very hard for their pro-duction next week—Pictures of a Christmas World. All Year 4 parents should have been sent a Parentmail with instructions on how to buy their tickets. There will be two performance on Tuesday 13th December. The matinee will be for parents and younger children. The evening performance is for adults and secondary school pu-pils ONLY. No younger children will be allowed in.

If you have not received your Parentmail letter to order tickets please contact the school office.

Choir Trip to Kenton Baptist Church

On Monday most of the choir went to visit an old age Christmas party at Kenton Baptist Church on Streatfield Road. The church had organised a Christmas Party for the elderly who live in the community and invited our choir to sing as part of the celebrations. I don’t really need to tell you that our pupils were fantastic. They sang with real gusto and even had time to speak to some of the local resi-dents. It is really nice to be able to give something back to our local community at this time of year.

The Living Years—London Hospice Choir single.

In case your children haven’t already mentioned it, Mrs Crossland is part of a 300 people choir who are trying to raise money for London Hospices. They are singing the Living Years with Mike from Mike and the Mechanics. The single is due to be released on Monday 16th December and the choir are trying to get as many pre-sales as possible so that it has a chance of being played on air by many radio stations.

On Friday 16th December we will be holding a special assembly which will help to launch the single and members of the hospice organisation will be in the assembly to hear the children sing their version of the song. The choir will also walk to St Lukes Hospice and sing at the Hospice.

If you would like to help please go to itunes and pre-order the single. All money raised will go to London Hospices.

Perhaps Mrs Crossland will also become a famous pop star in the process but she isn’t really holding out that much hope for achieving her ambition.

The Harrow Times have already published an article in the newspaper about the event and we are hoping that they turn up for the assembly on Friday 16th December.

COMPUTING AT KPJS

SAM LEARNING

Every child now has a Sam Learning account. Please ask your teacher for

your Log In details: https://www.samlearning.com/ It’s an interactive revision and home-

work website. Well done to 6LP who were at the top of the leader board last week but

3DOM have now over taken them! Congratulations to these individual children that have

the most points:

Even though we encourage online learning, we also promote safe and healthy use of the

Internet. Everything is good in moderation! It is recommended that children between 7-11

years should have no more than 2 hours of SCREEN time but should have 9-11 hours of

sleep daily. If you have any further questions about Sam Learning or the safe use of the In-

ternet, please make an appointment to see Mrs R Thomas or Miss J Mason.
