Siros é uma das ilhas Ciclades, cuja capi-tal é Ermoupoli. Esta ilha aparece referida na Odisseia de Homero como berço de Eumeu, criado de Ulisses. Foi também aqui que nasceram o filósofo Ferécides e o matemátio Pitágoras e, mais recente-mente, Demetrius Vikelas, primeiro presi-dente do Comité Olímpico Internacional. Hoje em dia, o Aeroporto e o Complexo Desportivo ostentam o seu nome! Syros is one of the Cyclades Islands, who-se capital is Ermoupoli. This island is mentioned in Homer's Odyssey as the cradle of Eumaeus, Ulysses servant. It was also here that were born philosopher Pherecydes, the mathematician Pythago-ras and, more recently, Demetrius Vike-las, IOC´s first president. Today, the air-port and the Sports Complex bear his name!

pensa-se que terá sido uma
cultura muito dinâmica,
influenciando o surgimento
da cultura minoica, pois
foram encontradas peças
em lugares tão longínquos
como Portugal!

at the end of the Neolithic, early
Bronze Age, famous for female idols
carved in white marble. Although
still largely unknown is thought to
have been a very dynamic culture,
influencing the emergence of
Minoan culture, with findings in
places as far away as Portugal!

Judo is a combat sport known for martial art
originating in Japan. The goal is to bring down
the opponent, so that it falls back on the carpet.
If at the end of the match (5 minutes) no one
has won, the victory is awarded based on the
judges' scorecards.
O Judo é um desporto de combate conhecido por
arte marcial, originário do Japão. O objetivo é
conseguir derrubar o adversário, de modo a que
este caia de costas no tapete. Se no fim da parti-
da (5 minutos) ninguém tiver ganho, a vitória é
atribuída com base na pontuação dos juízes.
